Pros: Scent. Easy to find. Improved my skin. Long lasting.
Cons: If you don't read the bottle first, you could be in for a bizarre experience.
The Bottom Line: Be sure to read the directions first. If you follow them, you'll find yourself with smoother, healthier skin.

| bterry's Full Review: Nivea Body Extra Enriched Lotion |
No, this is not a review on KY Jelly. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression. *wink*
I have purchased Nivea products off and on over the years - mostly because I love their fresh, clean scent. The way they smell has always been the basis of their appeal.
My latest purchase was no exception. I just looked for the familiar royal blue bottle - picked it up off the shelf, unscrewed the cap... inhaled, smiled, exhaled and dropped it in my shopping cart. No reading, no trying it out first. I like Nivea. I already knew this, so I did not really pay much attention to what I was buying.
When I took it off the bathroom shelf after a shower one day and pumped it into my hand - everything seemed normal. White and thick - this was the Nivea I knew and loved... Or at least I thought so until I tried to apply it to my skin.
It felt like Elmer's Glue and wasn't as absorbent or easy to spread around as what I recalled from my previous experiences. What the heck?! Ewwww! Did I buy an old bottle? It smelled okay - what was happening?
So I picked up the bottle and began to read. That's when it hit me. This is what I found:
Give maximum Moisture to your skin with NIVEA Body Extra Enriched Lotion. Its nourishing formula, with anti-oxidant Vitamin E, helps severely dry skin heal itself and provides intensive moisturization to help reduce skin roughness. It also helps to prevent dry skin by creating a protective barrier against moisture loss. Your skin feels renewed and smooth. Result: The condition of the skin is dramatically improved. To Use: Apply to damp skin after shower or bath.
Well there it was. I had tried to apply it at the suggested time - after a shower. But I had already toweled off and my skin was far from damp. Hmmmm.
So now I keep my bottle in the shower and apply it before I dry off. And the results I have experienced are much better, quite good in fact.
Now that I use it in the shower, I find that it is much easier to apply. It absorbs into my skin quickly. Of course I have to air dry to avoid rubbing it all off, but this has not been an inconvenience for me.
My skin still smells fresh and clean after using Nivea Body and it lingers. An hour after my bubble bath, I can still smell it on my arm... mmmmmm.
How does my skin feel? Great! It is soft and smooth, but not greasy. The moisture lasts - which is a must for me since I have very dry skin, especially during the winter.
Normally, I may have to reapply lotion two or three times a day to keep my skin feeling moist and healthy. On the days that I use Nivea Body though, reapplying is not necessary. I have found that it lasts all day.
The front of the bottle suggests that this product is for very dry, rough skin. I am not sure about "rough", but my skin can easily be classified as "very dry" - and this lotion is just what I needed.
The bottle states that this lotion is made with ingredients which work in harmony with your skin, to bring out its natural beauty. Here's what you can find inside:
Ingredients: Triple Purified Water, Mineral Oil, Isohexadecane, PEG-40 Ssorbitan Peroteate, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Glycerin, Petrolatum, Isopropyl Palmitate, Cetyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Glyceryl Lanolate, Lanolin Alcohol, Fragrance, Magnesium Sulfate, Aluminum Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Methyldibromo Glutaronitrile.
I will admit that I don't know what the majority of that stuff is, but I am familiar with Mineral Oil and Petrolatum - and I am surprised that even with these ingredients, my skin does not feel greasy.
It feels smooth, soft, moist and healthy. Oh, and by the way - it smells good too.
