The Bottom Line: If you want smooth, soft skin and it does not matter if your skin shimmer or not after using this product, you will love it.

The first time I used a Nivea product was about 1953 while living in Germany with my parents. I used to love the smell of the creamy body moisturizer that used to be packaged in a round blue tin with white writing. As I remember for years this was the only packaging Nivea came in. Recently I had a coupon to purchase of a bottle of their Silky Shimmer Lotion.
HOW WAS NIVEA ORIGINATED
The Nivea cream was created in Hamberg, Germany in December 1911 by a chemist, Iaac Lifschutz and a dermatologist, Paul Unna and was named Nivea from the Latin word, nivius which means “snow white” by Oskar Troplowitz the owner of Beiersdorf. After World War I, sales were down for beauty products that were manufactured during that time, as women did not spend much money on skin care. After World War II things changed and women of this time were interested in beauty products and skin care and sales began to climb and Nivea was the top selling skin care product for both indoors and outdoors. By the time of the first Earth Day on April 22, 1970 Nivea was already an international product and used by millions of women everywhere.
Beiersdorf, Incorporated now has a wide range of beauty products that carry the name of Nivea that includes, facial care, hair care, shaving, bathing and shower products, baby care, sun care product and body care. They are also located in other countries other than Germany. In the United States, Beiersdorf is located in Wilton, Connecticut.
THE NEW LOOK
The bottle is a creamy pearl looking bottle that has a flat look to it. The top can be taken off so you can pour out the amount you want or you can push the top of the container that will pop up so you can squeeze the amount you would like to use.
SPECIAL FORMULA
On the back of the bottle it tells you this is the first Shimmer lotion formulated to complement your natural skin tone. My skin is light brown with a natural golden tone; therefore I purchased the bottle for Light to Medium Skin. I immediately discovered there was not a shimmer to my skin, at least I can’t see it and it does blend in with my skin. It goes on the skin smoothly, keeps my body moisturized all day and it does feel very good.
WHERE TO USE THIS PRODUCT
According to the instructions on the bottle, just smooth Nivea Silky Shimmer lotion over your body daily; it is especially good for your arms, legs, shoulders and neck area. I also use it on my hands several times during the day after washing my hands.

HOW DO I LIKE NIVEA
I really like the way Silky Shimmer makes my skin feel after I shower. My skin feels smooth, it does not make your skin look oily and best of all it last all day. The pleasant fragrance is so mild it does not offend people with fragrance allergies when you come in close contact with them. It does not bother me that is does not put a shimmer on my skin, it makes my skin feel good and that is enough for me. I am just happy that I have reacquainted myself with this moisturizer from many years ago.
