Perhaps it's the warm weather, or maybe it's these pregnancy hormones that are making me crave anything shimmery, shiny and glossy. Whatever the reason, I'm having a blast trying out new products and adding some sparkle to my skin. Recently, while waiting in the doctor's office, I came across an ad for Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion. I was immediately intrigued, but didn't think about it again until I saw a review on it. When my husband and I took our next trip to pick up necessities at Wal-Mart, I picked up a bottle of Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion.
~*~Cost~*~
For a 6.8 FL OZ/200 mL bottle of Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion I paid $5.97 at my local Wal-Mart. This is actually cheaper than some of the other Nivea lotions I've used in the past! This product as well as other Nivea products can be found at discount stores, grocery stores and pharmacies, varying in price.

Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion is attractively packaged in a pearly white bottle with flip top cap. Nivea used their classic navy blue lettering, but added some "shine" to it with silver and light blues.
Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion promises to "Enhance Skin's Natural Radiance & Tone." while improving skin's condition with Nivea's classic moisturizers. Nivea, like many other companies, has taken hold of the public's desire to shine and shimmer this summer and ran with it. This lotion has tiny light reflecting pigments in it that capture the light. These pigments "makes your skin look beautiful under any light."
The lotion itself is a very light beige color. The formula is light weight, allowing it to absorb quickly and easily into the skin. Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion has the classic Nivea scent. It's hard to describe the scent, as it isn't flowery, just a light, pleasing fragrance.
To apply Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion you simply smooth it all over the skin, where ever you want a shimmery, radiant glow. While this lotion absorbs quickly into the skin, you still must wait a few minutes for it to completely dry before dressing. It only takes a minute or two.
Ingredients: Triple Purified Water, Glycerin, Octyldodecanol, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, SD Alcohol 40-B, Dimethicone, Titanium Dioxide, Stearic Acid, Cyclopentasiloxane, Mica, Dicaprylyl Ether, Myristyl Alcohol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Fragrance, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides.
As with any lotion, it is for external use only and should be kept out of the reach of little hands! (Meaning children, not necessarily your husband!)
~*~My Experience~*~
When I purchase a new beauty product, I'm as bad as a child with a brand new toy. I can't wait to rip it open and try it out. Thankfully there was no ripping to be done when I dispensed my first nickel size amount of Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion into my hand. The first place I applied it to was my legs. My poor, poor, drab, white legs needed something and I was desperately hoping that Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion was it.
Upon first applying it, I noticed nothing. I think I expected glitter or something, because I was severely disappointed. I dispensed another nickel sized amount into my palms and applied it to my other leg. Again, no noticeable shimmer, radiance or shine. It wasn't until my husband glanced over at me in the car and asked dubiously, "What the heck is all over your skin?" I suppose I should have been offended, but instead I was thrilled. "You can see something?" I asked. My husband responded with a short nod of his head and went about backing out of the parking place. As we pulled in to better light, i.e., the sun, I saw it. A light shimmer of soft gold that gave my skin a slightly bronzed look, while making it look literally radiant.
I finished applying Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion to my arms and again, when the light hit my arms just right, the shimmer was there. The shimmer and radiance is low key, subtle, and perfect for every day wear. I am now a devoted fan of this product and religiously apply it every morning when I get out of the shower. It gives my skin that extra boost that I had desired. Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion also keeps my skin soft and supple. While I love lotions, I often grew bored with the same scent over and over again. However, I love applying this lotion because I know it's giving my skin a soft radiance while moisturizing it. This lotion leaves no greasy after feel whatsoever.
As tempting as it may be to slather this stuff on, it's best to use it in moderation. While you may not notice it at first, that shine and shimmer is there. Slathering it on before getting a good look at your skin in the right light can be a mistake! You won't have a soft radiance, you'll wind up a golden goddess. This product rinses off the skin easily, so if you apply too much, don't fret.
I have experienced no skin irritations with this product.

I highly recommend Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion. This product, with it's light reflecting pigments, gives skin a soft, shimmering radiance while moisturizing. The light weight formula absorbs quickly and doesn't leave skin feeling greasy.
