Pros: Not many, folks -- not many.
Cons: Yucky gold tone, "shimmer" can be spread unevenly, not for cool-toned skin
The Bottom Line: Product is made for those with golden undertones to their skin. Mine are pink. The shimmer is hardly noticeable. Overpriced. Not recommended.

Introduction
This is a negative review, meaning I so disliked this product that I can barely stand to be objective. I warn you of this in advance, and apologize for my sarcasm at times, but I know that you, dear reader, understand that I am deeply hurt that this lotion did not meet my expectations, and will not take it personally. I really, REALLY had high hopes for this stuff!
Now, I don't know a WHOLE lot about skin tone, but I know this. I have very fair skin, and I don't tan, I just get red. There is no "golden" in my skin, but there is plenty of "pink", and unfortunately, the good people at Nivea decided to make their lotion cater to those with the more golden undertones.
In a quick summary, this lotion was a complete disappointment to me because of the following three reasons:
1. It didn't have enough SHIMMER for the whopping $7.49 I paid (for ONLY 6.8 oz. of product!) at www.drugstore.com
2. It was absolutely gold - my skintone is PINK!
3. Coated arm hair
WHERE'S THE SHIMMER?
It doesn't shimmer enough. Yes, when I shell out money for a lotion that claims to shimmer, I want to SHIMMER, BABY, YEAH! I want to see the light DANCE off my skin like I am all dressed up and ready to party!
I'm not a big lotion fan to begin with living here in the Pacific Northwest where dry skin isn't really that huge of a concern. So I was figuring that the steep price tag would be worth it because I would look so shimmery and gorgeous in my summer attire, right? WRONG!
O.k. now, for those of you who reviewed this product positively, I must admit that the bottle does use the word "subtle" to describe the end results. And I ALSO noted that the RESULTS: or what the product claims to do said NOTHING about the shimmer at ALL! Here it is directly from the overpriced bottle:
"Result: Your skin will look naturally radiant and feel silky soft."
Bottom Line? This product does NOT make your skin shimmer in the sunlight - it does seem to refract the light in a certain manner that gives some kind of illusion, but I'm still figuring out just what that illusion WAS for me, because of the next beef I have with Nivea's product.
I'M NOT GOLDEN. I'M PINK!
I really don't see how the Nivea people missed this fact, but not all of us are created golden. When I first opened the container and poured some of this rather runny lotion into my hand, I was expecting to see a pinkish undertone, since naturally the world revolves around ME, ME ME!
Perhaps others can answer this for me, but isn't it true that other such products for say, the face, are offered in several different shades? Pearl, Golden, Pink? Why is the body to submit only to gold? But I digress. If Nivea made this product for those with pink/blue undertones to their skin, I just may have purchased it without such disappointment. No, I take that back. It didn't shimmer enough for me. How quickly I forget!
So what to my wondering eyes did appear, but a runny YELLOW lotion, and smoothing it on my very PINK skin was a demoralizing experience. The effect was awful. I tried to be positive, and tell myself that no matter WHAT the color of my skin, this yellow stuff would make me radiate and shimmer and balance out the skintone, etc., but all it really did was make the parts of me that I managed to evenly distribute the stuff on rather . . . blandly gold-coated!
If you have seen Goldmember, Mike Myers latest Austin Powers movie, I felt like the title character! Only not nearly as shimmery as I would have liked to be! I also remembered the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz and wondered if indeed this lotion had gone back in time and somehow painted that actor's face yellow. Seriously, I did think both of those thoughts, and now I have a full bottle of this stuff that I would happily unload on Ebay if it were not for the fact that I OPENED it already!
COATED ARM HAIR
I noticed my arm hairs were coated in this stuff, and more pronounced. I did not like this. Arm hair is best when it is not noticed. This is just my humble opinion.
INGREDIENT LIST
How shall I mock thee? Let's start with the very first ingredient, which made me chuckle out loud when I read it even BEFORE opening this monstrosity of a product. (Remember, I'm just hurt. Sarcasm and overstating are tools used as secondary actions to mask an underlying emotion of DISAPPOINTED RAGE!)
Are you ready?
TRIPLE Purified Water.
That's right, folks. I tried not to ask myself the haunting question, "Once something is truly purified, can it REALLY be purified two more times? I mean, the stuff is PURIFIED or it ISN'T, right?" but alas I had already asked.
The only other things I could find to point out to you were the MINERAL OIL and PETROLATUM but truly I know nothing about them and have only heard they are bad for the skin and only wish to point them out negatively out of spite, but with no real reasoning behind it.
Ingredients: The Triple Purified Water, Glycerin, Octyldodecanol, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, SD Alcohol 40 B, Dimethicone, Titanium Dioxide, Stearic Acid, Cyclopentasiloxane, Mica, Dicaprylyl Ether, Myristyl Alcohol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Fragrance, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides
How to USE This Lotion
Oh I can feel my imagination running wild with this one - and my sarcasm is reaching an all-time high, but I am going to stick with the directions listed on the bottle and only make one practical comment from my experience.
"To Use: Smooth all over your body everyday for silky soft skin that looks its most radiant and beautiful. For firmer and more radiant skin, use Nivea Body Silky Silky Shimmer Lotion after using Nivea Body Skin Firming Lotion with Q10. Avoid contact with clothing until dry."
Besides my wish that another product not be pushed in the directions, my comment is that I really think it is important to SMOOTH this stuff on carefully if you have pinkish undertones. If you DON'T, you may MISS A SPOT and the effect is not really attractive!
BOTTOM LINE
I don't recommend this product to anyone with pinkish undertones in their skin, and I don't recommend this product to anyone with any other kind of undertones in their skin. I do not recommend this product.
Allow me to summarize in a brief poem, based loosely on the work "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss.
I would not use it in a boat,
I would not use it in a moat,
I would not use it on my arm,
I'd like to do this product harm.
Thanks for reading, and by all means, PLEASE read the other reviews here at Epinions.com that largely are positive and recommend this product. I BOUGHT this product based on reading them, and thought it was high time my experience be added to balance things out a bit!
