The winter makes my hair really dry and flaky, especially when I use a lot of hair products. I hate having a dry scalp. It’s not that it’s extreme of anything, but sometimes, I just need to use a good dandruff shampoo to knock it out. I’ve used Head and Shoulders and Neutrogena, but lately, they haven’t gotten the job done. I bought Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo at ShopRite for $10.99. Expensive? Yes. Does it work? Fabulously.

Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo’s active ingredient is Ketoconazole. This is supposed to help control flaking, itching and dried scalp conditions that are related to having dandruff. I don’t know about you, but it is very unattractive to keep itching my scalp and having a snowstorm on my shoulders. I was anxious to use this shampoo.

Inactive Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamide MEA, Sodium Cocoyl Sarcosinate, Glycol Distearate, Acrylic Acid Polymer (Carbomer 1342), Fragrance, Sodium Chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA, Butylated Hydroxytoluene, Quaternium-15, Polyquaternium-7, Sodium Hydroxide, Hydrochloric Acid, FD&C Blue 1.
Use
This product is used like a regular shampoo. You pour a quarter size in your hands, rub it in and create a nice lather, getting your scalp nice and soapy, and then rinse. If you want to enjoy yourself, then repeat the cycle again. The shampoo is blue and the smell is a strong, clean, Head and Shoulders like scent. I think some may find this to be a little overwhelming. The bottle says to use the product every 3-4 days for up to 8 weeks to take care of the dandruff issue. Also, this product should be used by people over the age of 12.
Experience
I have been using this product regularly for the past three weeks. I have been using it twice a week, once on Monday and once on Thursday. I don’t want to use this more then twice a week because I don’t really have an extreme problem and don’t want my hair to get used to this shampoo. Also, I really do not use conditioner with this shampoo. I just use a comb when I am in the shower to have less knots. The rest of the days I just use normal shampoo and conditioner.
I have noticed a good difference. My hair isn’t flaky or itchy and I don’t have any other problems or side effects. I just keep this bottle in the shower (even though it says it should be stored at room temperature) and use it every Monday and Thursday. I look forward to it because I know I’ll have beautiful, itch-free, non-flaking hair.
Even when I apply products, straighten, curl, or do something random with my hair, there are still no noticeable flakes and my scalp is not itchy. I really believe Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo is effective and fabulous! No complaints here!
