How good the the Nokia 252 is depends on who you talk to. Some people have listed cons of this phone that include dropped calls and poor clarity, but I suspect it has a lot more to do with the cellular network they're using, rather than the phone. In my case, I tend to get a lot of interference sometimes. I've has this phone for exactly one year and I am very pleased with it. When I bought it, my decision was based on price (it's inexpensive compared to other brands and models) and it's appearance: the phone looks really slick (mine looks like the one in the picture)! The thing that bothers me the most about the phone is that if I am using the phone for more than 15 minutes or so, it starts to get hot and feels uncomfortable on my ear. The size of the phone is just right: not so small that you can't talk and listen at the same time, yet not so big that it wouldn't fit into your pocket. Of course, if you're "big-headed" and "big-handed" then you may not be able to appreciate the slim and compact style of the 252.
Feature wise, it has the basic extras like a few different ring tones, phone book, etc. But if you wanted the swiss army knife of cell phones, complete with games, 100 different ring tones, picks up your e-mail and faxes, etc., then you won't find it here.
This would be a great gift, especially for teens who won't be too picky as long as it looks good, and if you know one of those people that likes to let their phones ring on the bus, in the movie theatre, in meetings, and acts like they can't help it, then they definitely need this phone, because it has a vibrate mode, which means no-one will be annoyed by your ringing phone!
