| lorrena's Full Review: Nokia 282 Cell Phone |
My daughter tried to get me to read her article on brain tumors caused by cell phones yesterday....I'm choosing to perform the ostrich maneuver (stick my head in the sand)...because I can't imagine trying to get from day to day without my cell phone. I've had my Nokia for about six months now...I love it.
In all fairness, I have to start by admitting that I've treated this phone like most other electronic devices I've purchased....I've never read the directions. Therefore any interactions that I've had with the phone book, ringing options etc. have been purely "winging it" when I've been stuck sitting someplace with nothing to do but play with my phone...not a common occurrence. I've not had much luck getting the phone book to work, and have been tempted enough to actually look for the instruction booklet my phone came with. I have had great fun with the ringer....it will play a variety of different tunes from William Tell's Overture to Mozart's Minuet in G. This is quite useful for determining which phone is ringing when you're standing in a group of people with cell phones. It also have a vibrator only option for those who do not wish to be conspicuous when their phone rings.
The 282 is quite simple to use, it's small size allows it to fit in my purse, coat pocket etc. This allows you to rather easily misplace it...this is when you call your own cell number...to find the phone. However the small size also provides some disadvantages...the keypad is very tight, making it very difficult to dial by touch, the ear piece is quite small making it difficult at times to hear callers.
I've been impressed wth the Nokia's reception. I do not have an antenna booster in my car...yet it has equal reception to the "bag phone" that I previously had.
In addition to the wall charger that came with my phone, I purchased a car charger as well. This worked really well for me, as the phone will get a full charge in 2 hours...but will get a usable charge in 30 minutes....about the amount of time it takes me to drive to work.
Essentially this small tool makes my life much easier...hopefully they will create models with less radiation soon, as I'm not looking forward to a world without the convenience.
