| kevlor1999's Full Review: Nokia 5120 Cell Phone |
Okay, I'll admit, when it comes to cell phones, I'm a little "user challenged". I recently upgraded my old analog phone to digital service. Hey, I had to be up with the times (although, quite frankly, I really don't get the difference between analog and digital.....doesn't sound any different to me). But, sometimes you have to keep up with the Joneses :-)
For the most part, primarily I like the security of having a phone in times of emergency. While my daily commute is about 30 miles each way, you never know when an emergency might occur during the ride, or any other time for that matter. I've also found myself more than once being stuck in a traffic jam, 15 minutes away from picking up the kids in daycare, when they close in 3 minutes. Quite nice to be able to phone ahead and let them know you're running late.
So anyway, I decided on the Nokia 5120 because my husband had purchased one and was really happy with his. I'm not into all the technical little gadgets and gizmos, bells and whistles. I wanted something that was easy to use and would serve it's purpose. This phone definitely accomplishes that.
The phone is fairly lightweight and fits easily into my purse (without causing me to have to go see a chiropractor). I decided the best way to remember whether my phone was on or off, was just to leave it on all the time. I average about 120 minutes of usage a month, so I don't consider myself to be a heavy user. I find my leaving the phone on at all times, I usually only have to recharge the battery about every 5-7 days. Not bad, considering my last phone would have maybe lasted overnight.....if I was lucky.
The phone is very easy to use, for those of us that are phone challenged. I have caller ID service from my carrier, which makes it nice to know who's calling. Also, it's very easy to program names and numbers in the address book. There is a very simple option to see when you've missed a call, what number was calling you.
One drawback (but I'm pretty sure this is my carrier, nothing to do with Nokia), is that if I want to make a long distance call, I have to dial about 12 different things. One day I was trying to succeed in placing a call, and couldn't do it. I called the phone carrier, and was instructed to do this, that and the other thing. Goodness knows I couldn't remember it, let alone trying to accomplish this while driving down the road. I haven't yet tried to do that again! But like I said, I think that's a security issue with my carrier and is not a feature from Nokia.
I would very much recommend this phone, especially if you don't know much about phones and cellular technology. It's very easy to learn.
