| tagertale's Full Review: Nokia 5160 Cell Phone |
The Nokia 5160 I believe is still the best cell phone out there to date. I have found no reason to upgrade. I even upgraded once...and went back to my 5160 because I didn't like the new phone!
Let's start with the basic FUNCTIONS:
1. Phonebook...very convenient and holds lots of numbers
2. Messages...this phone can have both voicemail and text messages. When your friends call you they also have the option to leave their call back number too. You can also receive news updates.
3. Call log...holds your missed calls, the last 5 received calls, the last 8 dialed calls, and keeps a call timer so you know how many minutes you use...just reset it when ever your bill dates up.
4. Security...you can have a security code, so even if someone steals your phone they won't be able to use it.
5. Call settings...you can have automatic redial, call waiting, send your own number to other phones, and use a calling card.
6. Call Forwarding
7. Games...good for when you're bore in class or at work(-:
There are actually 3 of them: Memory, Snake, and Logic.
8. Calculator...also very convenient
9. Clock...always displayed when the phone is on
10. Tones: to customize your ringer for your phone. You can also adjust the volume level.
Now let's talk about the phone itself:
1. Manageable Buttons...not too small and not in ackward locations on the keypad.
2. The screen is easy to read and see... and it glows green when your in the dark.
3. Antenna...the great thing is that there isn't one...so there is no possibility of it breaking or once you pull it out it won't fall back in on it's own...if you know what I mean.
4. For only $20 or less you can customize your phone even further by buying a face plate...and there are hundreds to choose from.
5. Battery...there are three to choose from. Mine has 12 hrs of talk time and will last for 3 days without charging if I don't use it much.
6. Easy to charge...and QUICK!
7. Durability-I'm kind of a clutz and I dropped my phone from the 3rd story of a building at school and after running down 6 flights of stairs the phone was perfectly fine...and came away without a scratch on it...believe it or not.
My one piece of advice though when you buy this phone is to spend the extra $20 for the imitation leather cover, with the plastic to protect the phone all the way around. This helped in the 3 story incident! Also, because this is an older model cell phone you should not have any problem find a dealer who will give you some kind of rebate when purchasing the phone. The price I mentioned below is before a $20 rebate, which can go towards your cover.
