| str8jkt1's Full Review: Nokia 5185i Cell Phone |
I recently acquired a pair of Nokia 5185i phones through a promotion with my wireless provider (Verizon). I had upgraded from a pair of Qualcomm 820's which I had found worked well for me. The reasoning for the upgrade was to acquire SMS service.
I am very pleased with the overall unit; it has a compact size that still gives you the feeling that you are talking into the phone. It is lightweight (about half the weight of the Qualcomms.) and was comfortable in my shirt pocket. I appreciate the choice of ringers and the ease of turning on quiet mode without going through 4 layers of menus.
I have found however that it does differ from the other Nokia 5100 series phones when it comes to the antenna. I would prefer to have a shorter antenna stub, I live/work in a major metropolitan area and do not need to extend my antenna for any calls, and have found that the retracted stub on the phone still tends to catch on things when on the belt clip.
