| Happy4u33's Full Review: Nokia 6162 Cell Phone |
I bought Nokia 6160 as soon as it came out. My cell phone has become my primary phone, and Nokia 2160 was too big. At first, I was very happy, here are some pros and cons:
- The battery life is awesome. It will last 2 days on 1hr a day talktime.
- User interface is clear, and the screen displays several names at a time, and is easy to scroll through.
- Variety of fun ring tones including the always popular "Flight of the Bumblebee", a must if everyone in your office has the same phone.
- Voice quality: much better than the first generation digital, with a good signal it is almost indistinguishable from a so-so cordless phone.
- A little bulky: while it is possible to carry it in your pocket, it is still much more noticeable than a wallet.
- Cluttered UI. Video games are nice, but I'd rather give them up for a better directory UI. Calendar is useless if it can't be hotsynced to my PC. And why does Nokia teases the techies with the IR cover, but no IR capability.
- Clock: finally, a Nokia phone with a clock.
I have a habit of being very casual with my toys. My favourite holding place for a cell phone is the jeans back pocket. While 2160 happily nested there for a couple of years, 6160 was struggling. The antenna cracked at the base after a couple of weeks. And then it broke. I took the phone in, and antenna, they had to send the phone back to the factory. 6162 was in stock, so I bought it. The difference between 6160 and 6162 is that 6162 has a flip cover.
I can't comment whether flip cover is good or bad, since I dropped the new phone (3 feet to asphalt) in my first week, and the flip cover broke off for good.
I continued carrying the phone in the back pocket of my jeans, until I've noticed the cracks at the base of the antenna. Since noticing the cracks, I've been gentle with it, and antenna has not fallen off yet.
Can't wait to get my hands on 80xx, and stress-test it...
