| SIAMESE2's Full Review: Nokia 6185 Cell Phone |
When my wife, Jennifer was pregnant last year, I knew I would need a cell phone in case something happened when I was on the way to work or out and about. I also work 25 miles away from home, and if my car breaks down and there are no phones around for miles, I can call someone to get a ride home. It comes in handy when I might get stuck in traffic and have to let someone know I might be late, and so much more.
The Nokia 6185 is lightweight, stylish and compact, can easily fit into your pocket. The screen is easy to read, you can adjust the contrast from lighter to darker, making it easier for you to read. When I use it to make calls home, etc. the reception is crisp and clear, depending more on your server and where you are in your calling area. I had three times that my phone conversation was not clear and it cut off on me.
I like the phone book feature, holds 200 names and numbers, and are easy to find when you need them. On the right side is the button you push to get the names you want at a glance, then push phone book, and pick the name you want to call.
The menu is easy to figure out, took me a few days to know where everything is and how to use it. The screen and writing is large enough to read without squinting.
There is also voice mail, so when Jennifer calls me up at work and I'm busy she can leave a message. Also has a paging feature, so if you hate leaving something on voice mail, you can put in the phone number where you are calling from and get back to them.
The caller ID is a great feature, so when you can't get to the phone you still know who called. You have different ringing tones for each phone number you have saved. Also can set it on vibrate when you need to know who calls, but don't want to disturb people around you with a ringing phone. The vibrating feature is built in to the cell phone.
You can adjust the volume for the ringing feature; me personally put it at the highest setting and still have trouble hearing it, esp., in noisy settings. You can also adjust the earpiece to how loud you want to hear the other person who is talking on the phones speaker.
The keypad is easy to read and buttons are a good size.
The battery has a 3-day stand by when fully charged. I have tried this by keeping my phone on for 3 1/2 days and when I needed to make a call it still went through with out dying on me. Charging your phone doesn't take long, except when you charge for the first time.
The Nokia 6185 is on the expensive side, but well worth it with all the features and long battery life. I recommend the Nokia 6185 cell phone to anyone in the need for a form of instant communication when on the road (keeping in touch with family or emergency) and needs a reliable phone.
