| dboc_99's Full Review: Nokia 6185 Cell Phone |
While there are several choices of Nokia 6100 series phones now on the market, the 6185 is the best choice. If you have $180 or so, I highly recommend you pick one up. There are several reasons why this is a good buy.
The first reason is that the 6185 is light, compact and pleasing to the user. Its buttons are clearly marked and the display is sufficient to let you easily use the advanced menu that comes with the 6185.
Secondly, the phone includes a vibrating ringer option that allows you to not be that bad "cell phone guy" who rudely disturbs others with the rings from his incoming calls. With the vibrating option turned on, you'll never get unwanted attention in a restaurant, theater, or private party and you'll not miss a call either. If you like to be out in a crowed bars or around noise, the vibrating option is the only way you'll hear your calls anyway.
The other function not mentioned, is the calendar feature that allows you to set alarms with messages for specific dates. For example, you can set a family members birth date into the phone and it will ring you on their birthday with a message so that you never forget. Of course you can always set it to remind you to pick up your dry cleaning too.
If you don't know already the 6185 is loaded with features like a 200 phone number memory as well as functions that allow you to customize ringing tones to individual callers. For example, you can set your phone to ring the "Lone Ranger" theme song when a certain caller calls, ect.
The only technology this phone is missing is wireless Web access, and at this point that technology is still in its first generation and has a LONG way to go, so believe me you aren't missing anything yet. Wait a few more years until that stuff is more reliable. In the meantime, pick up a 6185.
