| diversityink's Full Review: Nokia 638 Cell Phone |
If you were to ask my Dad to describe my possessions on one word, that word would be 'abused'.
I am incredibly hard on my equipment. I enjoy a fast paced life, in all types of conditions... Whether I'm out climbing a mountain in the rain, or inside a busy office I expect the things I buy to last... I don't want to have to worry about 'being careful' with stuff...
I was incredibly impressed with the Nokia cell phones... (Mine is a model 638) I first got it about 3 years ago... I have since been up several mountains (once with the 5th grade... Wanna talk about giving the cell phone a workout...) in several busy offices, etc...
This phone has been rained on, stepped on, dropped countless times... Once during that trip up the mountain with the 5th grade... fell 15 feet, hit a patch of grass, bounced, slid for another 25 ft over rock, and finally came to rest wedged in between two rocks... It had slipped out of my hand while I attempted to calm a student who had just been bitten by a snake. I was trying to perform first aid and call in an ambulance at the same time... I thought for sure I was screwed as I had the only cell phone. One of the other adults went to retrieve the cellphone and after climbing to high ground, attempted to use it... Aside from some scrapes, scratches and bumps, there was nothing wrong with it... Dialed right out.)
Bottom line, even after 3 years of abuse, this phone continues to do the job. That's what I like about it... Hell, it's even outlasted 3 pagers! I hope someday they can invent computers that can take this kind of abuse and still work great!
