These days, with more modern cell phones using digital technologies, the battery remains charged much longer than in the old analog cell phone days. As a result, there's less need to have a car charger. However, it remains a handy item. One of the most frustrating situations would be to have a car breakdown and a cell phone that runs out of power.
The Nokia LCH-12 is a solid product. Nokia has wisely used the same charger on a wide variety of their cell phones. I've used this charger on several Nokia phones myself. The green LED indicator indicates charging is in progress, and you can talk on the phone while charging is occurring.
Now, on the down side, the coiled cord is not exactly of generous length. And the connection into the phone is a small, round, non-locking plug. Given this combination, the charger may come unplugged from the cell phone as you hold the phone up to your ear. The situation is much better if you are using a phone headset, which is safer, and legally required in many states while driving.
Put one of these in your glove box, and you'll be all set in case your phone's battery loses charge while you're on the road.
