- KEEPS ME BOOTYLICIOUS! -

Written: Oct 05 '01 (Updated Mar 03 '02)
Pros:Have had it for 2 years, I run every day...not one single problem!
Cons:Only one MINOR con, the cup holder isn't level.
The Bottom Line: This treadmill TAKES A BEATING! It makes exercise truly fun! It will get you BOOTYLICIOUS, too! The best investment you could make for your body.

I swear, this treadmill is one of, if not THE BEST investments I have ever made!

Why I Chose The NordicTrack EXP1000:
As our first anniversary drew near, my husband and I decided that since we had both gotten a bit "comfortable" a.k.a. "chubby" over the past year of marriage, it was time to get our acts together. This was to be one of our gifts to each other. A tool to reshape our bodies and stay healthy so we could enjoy many more years together. We figured this purchase would cost about the same as a year for each of us at the gym, but it would last much longer and be much more convenient.

This was our first piece of workout equipment (other than free weights) and all we knew were the types of treadmills we saw in our gym. So, we headed out to a prestigious equipment retailer, who carried top brands that are used in professional gyms and health clubs. Sure, they were nice, but they were also priced in upwards of $4,000! So, we left and headed to The Sports Authority. We were discouraged to find junk. I mean, we had seen the very best and we compared everything else we saw to those expensive machines. A few days later we went to a Nordic Track retailer to see what they had. We found a few awesome machines. The salesperson really took the time to describe every feature to us, to figure out exactly what we needed and which machine was ideal for us. And it turned out to be the one that I was interested in. The EXP1000. I was interested because of it's powerful 2 horsepower motor, the speed range of 1 - 10 miles per hour, the fact that it was very durable and of course, it was in the neighborhood of what we were looking to spend. And most importantly, I was truly floored with the outstanding quality of this treadmill. I was comparing it to the several thousand dollar treadmills we saw a few days prior. And it really seemed to be an outstanding deal. We went home to think about it and saw a circular for Sears with a Nordic Track treadmill in it. The next day we went to Sears and bought it for $150 less than it was at the Nordic Track store.

How I Use My Treadmill:
Here's my program... I run every day for 45-60 minutes, at an average speed of 6.5mph, at the maximum incline (10). I definitely use this treadmill more and run it harder and faster than the average person. In addition to my daily beating, my husband runs on it every other day for an hour at a time. Two years of continuous, daily use is more than enough to send an inferior treadmill to the recycling bin. But the truth is, we have not had one single problem with this machine. No repairs or part replacements whatsoever.

As a matter of fact, when we purchased the treadmill, I knew that I would be using it much more often than the average person, so it was important for me to find one that would really last. I was told at that time by different salesman that I could expect a fraying belt with such excessive use. Guess what? No fraying belt! It's unbelievable... the abuse this machine endures should really give you an idea of how durable it really is.

Other Details:
The deck (walking area) measures 20" x 55". It has a power incline range of 1.5% - 10%. The shock-absorbing cushions underneath the deck provide a comfortable running surface, not to mention the protection for your knees and joints. This treadmill also has a built-in heart-rate monitor, with sensors located on the 2 handles. And best of all, the unit folds up easily and has wheels which make it easy to hide in a closet or simply move to another location.

Cons:
If I could change anything about this treadmill, I would make the cup-holder level...that's all. But the machine is outstanding - I can live with it.

Conclusion:
Whether you are looking to begin a brand new exercise regimen or if you are an experienced bodybuilder, this treadmill is ideal. It is easy to use, it is extremely durable and it is priced just right. Compare and you'll see that this machine is an excellent one.

If you are considering the purchase of this treadmill, I HIGHLY recommend it!
