Six months ago, I was the QUEEN of the Couch Potato crowd! I was incredibly overweight (400+ pounds), I could barely breathe, and I had the activity level of... ummm... a ROCK!!! Then I made a commitment to my future. I had weight loss surgery. And ONE of the things my surgeon required from me was that I begin exercising regularly. Once I had recovered enough to get started, I began using the commercial quality treadmill provided by my employer. I struggled to walk a half mile a day.
TA DA!! The new and IMPROVED me is up to one and a half miles a day now! I walk farther and faster and I'm feeling invincible! Soooooo... it was time to invest in a treadmill of my own! I actually HATED missing my walk on weekends or busy workdays. With a treadmill at home, I could be sure of getting my walk. I looked around, I shopped web sites, and I asked others who had purchased treadmills. I eventually ended up at Sears when a sale was going on for exercise equipment. I had a list of features that were non-negotiable, some that were nice-to-haves, and a basic price in mind of around $700. I wore my walking shoes so I could try them out. I had a new pen in my checkbook. I was READY...
I looked them all over. I walked on them. And walked. And walked. And walked. And, in the end, THAT is what sold me on the EXP 2000. Yes, I spent more than my target price. BUT... I got my money's worth!
This treadmill had ALL the features I required. It was well made, had a solid warrantee, an extra wide cushioned track (20" x 55"), pre-programmed workout routines, electronic incline control, and was a space saver (fold-up) model. It FELT good when I walked on it. The controls were easy to see and easy to set. Additionally, it could be programmed with 2 custom workout programs, so I could set it up to mirror the routine I was used to doing every day.
The 1.75 CHP motor was, according to my research, the best kind of motor for long-term durability. Since I am currently large and heavy, this was an important consideration. The manufacturer does not recommend this treadmill for people who weigh more than 275 lbs., and I was just over 300 lbs. when I bought it, but I was confident that I'd soon be below that parameter anyway. (10 lbs. to go...)
Some treadmills are designed for walking and others are designed for walking AND running. This machine is rated for running. I don't run, but I might one day, and wanted the option in the future.
Finally, since I was buying it from a large department store, they would deliver and set up my treadmill. It was also on sale, so I saved $200 off the regular price. Yippee!!
I've had my EXP 2000 for about 6 weeks. Every time I climb on and start walking, I pat myself on the back for making some great decisions. First, for deciding to get control of my health again. Then for deciding to have the weight loss surgery. Last, but not least, for deciding to purchase a quality treadmill to reach my home exercise goals.
