Country of Origin
When I first bought a pair they were USA Made, now they are made in Mexico.
I have thoroughly enjoyed using batter heated socks by Nordic Gear for almost twenty years now.
These feel very comfortable against the skin as they feel extremely soft and comfy. Nordic Gear socks fit true to size. They do not bunch up or slide around while wearing with shoes or boots. They stay up on legs as they are suppose to and as you would and should expect for a pair of socks costing typically more than twenty bucks for a pair.
The heat level is more than ample to keep your feet toasty warm even when it got down to around 25°F - 28°F (or below freezing for simplicity) a couple of nights this Winter of 2011 - 2012 and a little chilly on a few occassions during Spring 2012.
The socks maintain the comfort even after being hand washed dozens of times and being air dried as directed. If you want or need to fluff up the so called terry of the sock just simply carefully and slowly turn inside out and rub gently with a lint free soft white cotton undershirt or towel after it is completely dry and the socks will be soft as day one.
Even with only over one-third of wool content at 36% these will stay warm for at least one hour to two hours after the battery have stopped working.
I personally like to keep at least two sets of D cell batteries on me when I will be going to be out for more than six hours. Two sets of batteries is four batteries as each sock requires one battery. I find that the best D cell batteries is Duracell D Cell 1.5 Volt Alkaline Battery.
The Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price is $24.99 typically.
Care and Washing
Do not pull or tug on the sock from the cuff area when putting on, as this may dislodge the wiring connected to the battery or to the heating element. Hand wash in warm water with mild detergent. Do not machine wash. Use a gentle squeezing action to wash and rinse. Do not wring or twist, as this may damage wiring.
Important Medical Information or Concerns
Diabetics, any other individuals with circulatory problems, or anyone who may have sensitivity or lack of sensitivity to heat should consult your physician before using as a means of therapy or rehabilation process. Again, if you have concerns talk to your doctor first.
Yes, I highly and most definitely do recommend the Nordic Gear ElectraSox™ Battery Heated Socks and rate these at five out of five stars.
These are the original battery heated was originally developed for professional fishers to use in the icy waters of the Atlantic during the Winter and have been making these for well over a decade as well as other products bearing Nordic Gear since about the year 1966. These are the best you may buy that are highly reliable and affordable compared to many much more expensive options that are not worth while due to the low return rate in the long run.
