The Purchase
After using a decent lower-end Braun electric shaver, I didn't have a very good opinion of electrics. With my Braun, I could shave my face, but it couldn't defeat my neck hairs, forcing me to also use a regular razor.
I then saw the advertisement for the Norelco. Their pitch worked for me, "holes for short hairs, slots to get the longer hairs." Sold. I went out in search of one of these. I decided that, since I would be using this everyday (and on my face, no less), I would go out and get the best. After a little searching, I found out that the best costs nearly $200! Eventually, I found someone selling brand new ones on eBay (on a Dutch auction) for $125. I placed my bid and won.
First Impression
After receiving it, I tore open the package in anticipation. The product was of the quality I had expected, and had a nice case, stand, and cleaning brush to boot. After reading the directions (as I recall), I was disappointed to find that it required you to not shave for a couple of days before using, so that your beard can adjust and the shaver.
After waiting the required number of days, I finally got to use my new shaver. It worked as I expected it to, giving a close shave, even the difficult neck area.
Long Term Use
The best part about this razor is the battery. I get about three weeks of use before it needs to be recharged. I recently went to Spain for two weeks and didn't need to bring the power cord or buy the plug adapter necessary for European countries (although the shaver does work on 110v and 220v). What's more, the illuminated LCD display lets you know how many minutes the battery has left and reminds you if you forget to clean the head.
After using it for 1 1/2 years, it still shaves just as well as when I first tried it.
Drawbacks
This shaver is not for use in the shower, which may be an issue to some people. The trimmer feature doesn't work as well as some others I have used.
