Salad Plates For Every Occassion

Written: Jan 20 '07
Pros:Good size for many uses, versitile, durable
Cons:silverware can discolor the top
The Bottom Line: Used for many meals.... great for any home

Personally I much more prefer my salads in a bowl, but these plates make excellent lunch, snack and desert plates. We have used these dishes for over 5 years now and I would not trade them for any other. Usually the salad plates are my first grab, unless we are having something like spaghetti, or several different items.

The Colorwave Line
The Noritake Colorwave collection is fine china, with an everyday appeal. The dishes are characterized by a solid color on the bottom and a creamy-white color on the top. The solid color has grayish speckling as well. The style is best seen in the picture of the bowl found here: bowl pic. This collection fits almost any decor or color scheme - from country to chic. The Colorwave collection is currently available in 12 different colors. These bowls may be purchased individually or in the four-piece set and are available at most places that sell fine china including Macy's.

The Salad Plate
I use these salad plates a lot for lunch items, especially for sandwiches. Yes, we could just use a paper towel, but there’s something about eating off plates I like. The salad plate is a mini version of the dinner plate measuring approximately 8 inches. The edges are rounded up slightly to catch liquids before dripping off your plate.

None of our salad plates are showing signs of damage, such as cracks, chipping or fading. The only visible "damage" someone may find is that silverware tends to leave grayish lines, usually from cutting, on the dishes. Our salad plates do not show this as much as the other pieces, but we also don't cut as much on these pieces.

The dishes are microwave and dishwasher safe. Unlike the bowls, I have not noticed that the plates get too hot when used in the microwave.

Overall
I highly recommend these dishes to anyone looking for a new set of dishes whether you are looking for a fine china set or something great for everyday use. These plates take on the look and feel of the decor they are placed in. The various colors can be mixed and matched to fit any color scheme. These salad plates make great dishes for serving, eating a snack or having a small meal. They would also create a pretty good size salad if you choose to put one on it.
