The Russian text on the label says... "Сердечный друг не родится вдруг".. "A true friend is not born overnight" Probably a reference to Rasputin being a very close friend of the Russian Imperial Family

Adam bier has been sitting in my fridge for a while now. I'll have to pop it open some time. I'll let you know.

But there is a sweet 10% ABV beer I like better:

Hair of the Dog's ADAM.

Thanks for your kind words. As for the freezing issue, I don't remember where I picked that up from, I actualy copied it from my Samuel Smith review. Still wouldn't be unlikely that I just misread something, especially after drinking imperial stout.
Thanks

One little nit to pick... (Reply to this comment)

Great review, and I wholeheartedly agree: outstanding beer. Just one little nit to pick: Imp. stout was brewed strong to keep it fresh-tasting through the long sailing voyage to St. Petersburg, not to keep it from freezing. Stronger beers resist staling and infection better, sometimes simply because their strong flavors overwhelm off-flavors.
Otherwise, rock on, brother!
Cheers,
Lew Bryson
