Summertime is always a great motivator for trying to lose those last few pounds. Youll see more people in the gym, sales of weight loss products shoot through the roof and new products hitting the shelf. With all the choices that consumer have you would think that people would do a little research before they plunk down their cash for a product with hefty claims and little back up their findings. Ive often said the line you didnt get fat in a day so dont expect to lose the weight in a day, solid advice right? Well, if only people would remember that when looking into these types of products theyd be able to save themselves some money, frustration and disappointment.
If youve never heard of this product chances are you will in the near future since it is getting a full on push and several body builders have signed on to advertise it. Thats part of the reason its priced at about $49.99 for a four ounce tub. Of course the manufacturer isnt going to say that they are going to tell you its because they use pharmaceutical grade products, have extensively tested it and proved their claims through clinical trials. I have to laugh when I read that email them and ask them for the results of the trials and see the answer you get. More than likely it will be those results contain sensitive information about out proprietary ingredients and can not be released to the general public.
Cutting Gel Transdermal Muscle Defining Compound
Manufacturers Claim
Cutting Gel is a clinically proven, transdermal gel that dissolves surface body fat wherever applied!
OK, lets get to the meat of it this product will give you results but it is a two way street. Just like the miracle fat loss pills that I often bash in my reviews, this one is no different. You cant sit around, rub this on your stomach and expect to lose fat remember this is for fat loss, not overall weight loss. If that seems confusing let me try to explain it. When you lose fat you do indeed lose weight however it is possible to decrease your size without actually seeing the numbers on the scale go down. Muscle is denser than fat so if you are dieting and using any type of weight lifting to get in shape you might see your clothes fitting better, have more energy and the loss of fat but when you step on the scale you might be the same weight or even a few pounds heavier. This is where your body fat level comes into play. Get it checked by someone who knows how to use a fat caliper and ignore what ever the scale says.
The Cutting Gel helps to decrease the size of fat deposits and claims that it will help break down the fat so it is transported out of the body. Now, that might sound all well and good but this is where exercise comes into play. If you just rub this on your body it will release a minimal amount of fat into your system, but since you are inactive the fat is just floating around looking for a new place to call home. When you use this before you work out, you are setting the fat cells up for the big kill. Your body will, according to the manufacturer, utilize the free flowing fat cells as energy effectively removing them from your body as spent and depleted cells. The truth of the matter is this once a fat cell is created all that can be done is to reduce the size of it but its still there. So you are basically squeezing it to reduce the size of it but the contents still need to be removed from your body. This is where a little bit of education and research can help make you a more informed consumer and avoid getting ripped off by these types of claims.
My Experience
I was more than a little skeptical about the claims that were being made about this product. There have been a ton of similar products on the market and they all said the same thing lose that extra layer of fat by applying this product blah blah blah. One thing that I have to say about this is that it tells you up front and in a no-bull fashion that you have to exercise or perform some type of cardiovascular activity when using this. Thats something that most products dont readily push on the label. Ive used this for a month now and will admit my abdominal region is tighter. I cant say for sure that this is all due to the use of this product because I did start adding a hundred extra crunches to my daily workout. I am going to try this on my thighs while adding in a few extra sets of deadlifts and squats to see if I can bring out the definition and some striation.
Im not sure hold long the results will stay evident. I would assume that with continued exercise and proper diet my abs will stay tight but it remains to be seen if Ill need to use this product on a regular basis. The manufacturer doesnt mention anything about needed to apply maintenance applications or if this is just a temporary fix. Ill update this in a month or so that should be enough time to see if the fat creeps back or my six pack remains.
Ingredients
Lecithin Helps to break down layers of fat cells and aids in the process of converting it into a viable energy source during exercise, cardiovascular or aerobic activities.
Octyl Palmitate - Aids in transporting fat through the body as well as allowing the gel to make its way to the subcutaneous layers of fat.
Water - Purified and filtered, servers as a hydration factor to keep ingredients from congealing and turning into a solid.
Aminophylline Helps to aid fat cell release, often used as a compound in asthma medications, supported by clinical studies for spot fat reduction.
Isopropylparaben [Isopropyl-4-hydroxybenzoat] Preservative, compound stabilizer and helps to keep ingredients from separating when exposed to heat or cold.
Isobutylparaben - Preservative, compound stabilizer and helps to keep ingredients from separating when exposed to heat or cold.
Directions
This works best if you use it before you exercise even if you are just lifting. To get the most from it I do suggest that you use this when you are going to be extremely active for about 30 45 minutes. This way you will be able to burn off the fat that has been released and not have to worry about it being redistributed to other parts of your body. Youll want to make sure that your skin is clean and dry and free of any lotion or oil take a small amount [about the size of a grape] and rub it into the area you are targeting. The manufacturer suggests using a marble sized amount but they never specify what size marble they are talking about. This is not something that you are going to want to apply to your entire body firstly it would be too expensive and you wouldnt see any real results because youd run out in about two weeks time if applied twice a day. Secondly the manufacturer recommends against this because theres no way the body could process that much fat at one time. While this is partly true the worst that would happen is that youd end up wasting a good majority of the product.
You might feel a little bit of a tingling sensation or even slight redness this could be from rubbing it into your skin or just your body heating up. A few people that tested this out at the gym said they felt a slight burning sensation but nothing painful. If I use too much or apply it to too large a region it feels a lot like Icy-Hot but dies off in about thirty minutes. Youll want to rub this into your skin for a few minutes until you have worked it in properly theres no real time frame to work with but the label says five minutes. I dont know about you but when I get to the gym I want to work out, not sit around rubbing oils and compounds into my skin. Two to three minutes and I am ready to go. You might want to wear a pair of sweatpants if you are applying this to your calves or thighs to prevent excessive sweating all over the machinery. Same thing if you are using this for your abdominals wear a t-shirt that you can tuck into your pants or shorts to you wont be dripping everywhere.
Ive never had any problems with this staining my clothing or being hard to wash out if I do get it on my clothing but I certainly wouldnt wear anything expensive when using this. Since you are working out you will be sweating and eventually sweat stains [salt and iron in the sweat is what stains]. Apply this with clean hands and make sure you wash all the traces of it off your hands when you are done. There is a slight smell to it but its not something that I can pick up on people at the gym say that it has a slight chemical smell to it and others say it smells like a light lotion. Sorry, I put it up to my nose and I dont smell anything.
Things To Know
There are a ton of different products on the market that will aid in spot fat reduction and some of them are calling themselves Cutting Gel so it is important to know what you are looking for, be familiar with the manufacturer and read the ingredients to make sure that you are really getting your moneys worth. Other similar products include: Dermalin [4 ounces $89.99], Get Ripped [4 ounces $69.99], Cutting & Sovage [3 ounce tube 89.99], DermaLean 4 ounces $79.99]. For the most part, these products contain all the same ingredients and for all I know could all the same as Cutting Gel but marketed through other companies.
The four ounce bottle retails for about $49.99 but can be found for less through online vendors. Ive seen this sell for as much as $79.99 a bottle and when you consider that its about a thirty to forty five day supply you are looking at a pretty big investment. Whether its worth it or not is a case by case scenario. As I said, this might work for some people and might not work for others. Beware of rip offs and always check the container of the bottle or jug when ordering. If you see something advertised for $20.00 you will more than likely be receiving a sample container or a repackaged product.
The Bottom Line
Spot fat reduction has been a huge argument in the bodybuilding community. For years people have argued that exercising a certain part of the body wont necessarily make it tighter or firmer and others argue that is the only way to really reduce the size of the fat cells in a certain or specific region of the body. The same things have been said about steroid injections that spot site injections dont really work. Now they are facing off about the use of topical creams and lotions for subcutaneous spot fat reduction. There is no real guarantee with this product. It might work for you and it might not. If you have $40.00 - $50.00 to drop on something you can give this a try but it has to be accompanied by exercise or it wont work. All youll be doing is relocating the fat, so why pay to put those fat cells on holiday if you arent going to exercise save the cash to order a few pizzas.
