MumMumMum's Full Review: nutro products Nutro Max Puppy Food
In May we had the adventure of taking BabyGirl on a field trip with her class to a petting farm. During our visit BabyGirl fell in love and begged, pleaded, and asked Mrs. Farmer very politely if she could bring home the little black puppy with no hay on it that she discovered in the barn. After consulting with us, Mrs. Farmer informed BabyGirl that she could take home the little black puppy with no hay on it in six weeks, when it would be ready to leave the farm. BabyGirl went home counting the days, and we started planning for the new arrival. Purchasing dog toys and crates and snacks and food proved to be a daunting task, but we wanted to do it right and we researched and comparison shopped and finally felt that we had all the necessary items to make our new family member happy in his new home.
Hobbes is the name of the little black puppy with no hay on it, (as in Calvin & Hobbes), and hes a mixed breed, mother is a black Labrador retriever and father is unknown. (Although were pretty sure we know whom the unknown is, the Border collie on the neighbouring farm. The colour and markings have us pretty convinced.) The little black puppy wasnt so little anymore, but he was hay-free as promised by a laughing Mrs. Farmer, and we brought him home. We decided to try Nutro MAX Puppy Dry Dog Food after speaking with several dog owners, as well as several staff members of various pet stores.
Why Nutro MAX Puppy Dry Dog Food?
The main reason we chose Nutro MAX Puppy Dry Dog Food is a pretty big reason. From the packaging: No Chicken By-Products. Most dog foods contain chicken by-products or poultry by-products as a source of protein. That means including chicken or poultry heads, feet and guts ingredients youll never find in Nutro Max Puppy. We use the same parts of chicken you feed your family. No heads, no feet, no guts. In my opinion thats a pretty compelling reason to purchase a dog food. There are of course other reasons and factors to take into consideration when purchasing a dog food, and one of them is the easy digestibility and nutritional content of this dog food. It features chicken and lamb proteins, which are formulated to ensure it meets a puppys nutritional needs, and it is all natural with vitamins and minerals. It also contains a high concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Those include things such as linoleic acid and essential vitamins and minerals. These ensure that a dog has the nutrition necessary to keep its skin and coat healthy. Nutro MAX Puppy Dry Dog Food also uses natural Vitamin E as a preservative to keep the food fresh and holding its nutritional benefits. Choosing to use a natural Vitamin E as a preservative instead of a chemical preservative is another plus to this dog food.
Other product claims (from packaging):
~Nutritionally complete for healthy growth
~Builds strong bones & teeth
~Easy to digest, less clean-up
~Real chicken and lamb protein
Hobbes, do you give this paws up or paws down?
Hobbes loves Nutro MAX Puppy Dry Dog Food. Those small round bits and bites of food disappear faster than you can say Good Dog, and hes had no problem with digesting the food. Weve found the easy to digest claim to be true, and we have had no problems with clean-up when walking Hobbes. Nutro also provides clear, easy to understand feeding guidelines using age and weight on the packaging, so you wont be over or underfeeding your dog. They suggest moistening and feeding regularly for small newborn puppies, serving the recommended amount in two or more meals a day, and also recommend that any diet changes should be gradual. Hobbes is quite happy with our choice of dog food. Hes growing bigger by the day, and hes a happy, energetic, and very lovable puppy. He definitely gives Nutro MAX Puppy Dry Dog Food two paws up!
