Pros: It is pretty, it has bubbles, there is some alcohol in it...
Cons: Price, 'girly' image, this aint no man's drink.
The Bottom Line: Pretty color, little bubbles to decorate the glass when poured and tickle the nose when drank, the little extra kick of the vodka ...this must be a par-tay..!!
... Just a few weeks ago I was subjecting my hepatocytes (liver cells for the non-medical reader) to the stress of iced vodka shots. My liver and I are back with a 'fruity' drink that will make the ladies swoon ...and the men reach for their bottle of Jack Daniels.
'Fruity'. That is how my 20-something son described Nuvo Sparkling Vodka when the young lady clerk handed me this bottle at the discount liquor store. I am sure he was afraid she might think it was for him. I was so proud of him ...I coulda hugged him ...but not in a strange liquor store while holding this blushing pink bottle of 'fruity' . . .something. It just would not have been cool...
I clicked through on all the shopping links here and saw a couple of them described this as a 'liqueur'. Trust me ...this is no liqueur. Liqueurs have a body and a taste you never forget after your first taste, whether it is Jagermeister, Ouzo, Kahlua, Cointreau, whatever.
This stuff is sodee pop..!! With a fruity taste, cute little bubbles, and ramrod tall bottle that might be a ladies best friend when she finishes the content. As a pretty, tall bud vase I mean. The taste of this one is nothing remarkable to be fondly remembered.
One shopping site's description: NUVO SPARKLING VODKA LIQUEUR A delicate fruity taste, distinctive pink color and enchanting bottle made from a small amount of delicate French sparkling wine predominately made up of Chardonnay with a touch of Pinot Noir blended with vodka made from the finest grains, along with the purest spring water from France.
What..?!? Read that again. Still does not make sense to me. I do know you do not get much of a buzz from it. At 15 proof there must be much more 'sparkling' than vodka. This is something Clarence from It's A Wonderful Life would order. H3ll, I felt like ringing bells while drinking my glassfuls.
But (somewhat) surprisingly, my wife and daughter seemed to like it. When we had finished the last of it (yes, they fought over the last few dribbles from the bottle...) they were already trying to figure out how to make a homemade batch of it. Which should not be too hard ...as it is simply a mixture of sparkling wine, fruit flavoring, some more wine, and vodka. I mean, this is a freaking science experiment challenge..!!
As I said, my wife and daughter like it . . .but they also realize it is rather pricey for the dollars this bottle cost. When you could easily make your own version and dump in some extra vodka to give it a bigger kick.
The Bottom Line
Ladies, if you have a 'girls night out' planned with your friends, Nuvo Sparkling Vodka might be a good beverage to break out. The pretty color, the little bubbles to decorate the glass when poured and tickle the nose when drank, the fruity taste, and the little extra kick of the vodka might be just the thing to add a festive touch to small talk, catching up with old friends, and solving those man problems.
Guys . . . . .what the h3ll..?!? Do I really have to say anything here..?!? You want your man card pulled..!?! I am already in trouble with the authorities just for writing this review.
