Re: Does the can drop down after opening? (Reply to this comment)
by Javelina, in Home and Garden
This can opener will hold the can, or you can open it on the counter.
That's the thing- the can will go round and round and not drop off. It's so easy, that's why I was saying that you'll have no idea that you've opened the can!
It cuts right below the lip of the can, and then you use the built in "pliers" to pull the lid off. Literally the easiest manual can opener I've ever used!

Does the can drop down after opening? (Reply to this comment)
by wingerr
With this can opener, does it cut off the top along with the ridge of the can?
I have a different opener, which cuts the can below the ridge, while holding on to the top. On the first time I tried it, after the lid was cut off; to my dismay, the can and contents just fell away. Stood there feeling quite goofy, holding just the opener and lid- I was always used to the old style openers, which held the can while popping the lid up. Oops!
Does this operate the same way, or do you also need to open it while it's on the table?

Since the Culinare SafetyCan opener I had broke apart, I need a replacement. This sounds good. I'm going to get one.

I love getting BB&B and LNT coupons. Make sure you're on their mailing lists! (I think it's when you give them your phone # at checkout).
This beats lots of electric can openers. My old roommate had a "Gizmo" one and it was awful. My grandmother had a few, and they never worked. This is such a great product!

This is such a unique product. It's almost as much of a novelty as it is a highly useful item! :)

I'm an Oxo fanatic, but this one is definitely one of the best in my collection.
Thanks!

and I just used my $5.00 coupon at L & T but this sounds great. It would be worth it to have in our trailer where we don't have room for an electric can opener. Thanks for the info. jo

Well actually I don't need a new canopener, but like you I like OXO products and well you have just made it sound so nice that I think I'm going to have to treat myself to one.

I don't think I could be more enlightened on a can opener. Ha ha. Great Epinion, and your profile page is cool looking. Keep up the great Epinioning.
Sincerely,
Mike
