| SDF1084's Full Review: Ocean Kayak Rrrapido |
The Rrrapido is the best surfing kayak on the market today. It is also one of the most stable and has the absolute best tracking of any other kayak. My family bought one last year and we have thoroughly enjoyed riding waves on it in the surf.
PROS
1. Excellent tracking. This ocean kayak has by far the best tracking of any kayak made yet. It has two rails under it and they keep it perfectly straight while surfing waves or just paddling.
2. Stable. This kayak is very wide and that also makes it one of the most stable kayaks on the market.
3. Light weight. This kayak weighs 38 pounds, and compared to other ocean kayaks, that is nothing at all. One person can easily carry 38 pounds with no problems at all.
4. Speed. This kayak is not the fastest kayak on the market, but it is close. Most ocean kayaks have no speed, but the Rrrapido does have some. I sure wouldn't use it in a race, but you can build some pretty good speed with it.
5. Great for surfing. This kayak was specifically built for surfing, and it is excellent at it. Where other kayaks fail and turn broadside to the wave, the Rrrapido's rails keep it arrow straight during the whole ride, making it the best kayak on the market for surfing.
CONS
1. So-so maneuverability. This kayak, because of the rails, is not so easy to maneuver. It is slow and very difficult to turn, making for some frustrating paddling.
2. No cargo space. There is no cargo space on this kayak, but who needs to have a cooler on board if all you're going to do is surf some waves?
3. Sits to low in the water. This kayak sits so low in the water that ripples come on board. That is not always bad though because sometimes you need to keep cool.
Summary
Overall, this is a kayak worth buying if you want to catch some good waves, but no good for anything else.
