Cons: Like all printers, expensive cartridges. Needs bigger paper tray to hold more paper.
The Bottom Line: This is the office machine that every home needs. It is very versatile and can take care of printing needs for pre-school, grade-school, college, and career.

This machine was a bit overwhelming when I first brought it home and I wondered how I would ever learn to use all the functions. I am happy to say that it was not as difficult as I had first imagined. The manual is clear and easy to follow. It also offers tips on how to use the maintenance functions.
Loading the paper is very easy. Scanning functions are just as easy as sending a fax. Matter of fact, that is exactly how you scan documents or pictures. You just place them in the machine as if you were going to send a fax. You can scan to your computer and save as a file or scan to the printer and make a hard copy.
The fax options are wonderful. There is a fax log so you can keep up with outgoing and incoming faxes. There is a time-saver function so you can send faxes after hours to save on long distance. Reports are available if you need them for expense records or just to see how you are using your machine and for how long. There is a built-in automatic fax cover sheet section. All you have to do is pick out a cover sheet and add your notes. A computer saved address book keeps up with all of your contacts with more than just their fax numbers. Faxes can be sent in color or black and white.
Print cartridges are easy to replace, easy to clean, and easy to align with the software that lets you know when your ink is low, whether you need to clean the ink heads (which you do by running a clean function), and an align test to ensure the best printing possible.
Ink cartridges are very expensive no matter what printer you are using but thankfully, there are several places where you can find replacement ink cartridges at a much cheaper cost. The 2 for 1 Inkjet store, http://www.2for1inkjet.com, is a great place to find quality but affordable cartridges for this machine. Just find HP T45 and there will be your cartridges. The $34 for two black cartridges is much better than paying $38 for just one. Quality is just as good as the others.
All in all, it is a great machine that can provide printing for children color pages, copies of book reports or company reports, as well as faxing off that resume or letter. You can scan pictures to save or to send to friends via email. Best of all, upkeep is a breeze with the smart software to help you take care of all those details.
I give it a definite thumbs up.
