| Elysabethe's Full Review: Hewlett Packard OfficeJet t45 All-In-One InkJet Pr... |
I began using the OfficeJet T65 at work with more than a little skepticism. My experience with "all in one" machines in the past had led me to believe that they were "jacks of all trades, masters of none" - they performed many functions, but excelled at none of them. The T65 let me know that it could excel, at least in most areas.
Pros:
It's modeled after the HP DeskJet 890C print engine, which makes it high quality and quiet. The photo quality isn't as good as that of an Epson photo printer, but for standard office documents it's great.
The black printing is second-to-none in the inkjet world. It's crisp and there are no fuzzy edges or bleeding.
Walkup color copying is great. Just put your document or picture in, and press a button. The other machines I'd worked with previously required color copying through an attached PC; not the most convenient.
It takes up a lot less space and costs less than an individual fax, copier, printer and scanner.
The fax is easy to use and has lots of features.
The software was simple and fast to set up and utilize.
Technical support (thankfully mostly unneeded) has been polite and knowledgeable.
Cons:
I can get better photo print quality from a standalone printer.
Is really only good as a convenience copier. If I have to do many copies, I'm better off with a standard copy machine.
Cartridges are getting expensive! They've come out with a cheaper cartridge, but with half the capacity.
HP still hasn't matched the scan resolution of many other manufacturers. You can see the difference. However, it's usually not necessary for most applications.
The software takes up a lot of space on the hard drive, and the minimum system requirements for your PC are pretty high.
No USB compatibility, and no Mac compatibility. Go with the G-series if you want or need either of these.
No toll-free number for technical support. On the other hand, they have a pretty decent web site and fairly prompt e-mail support.
May be too much machine - if you never make copies or send faxes, you might be better off with a separate scanner and printer.
All in all, though, a great improvement over other all-in-one machines I've tried. I'd recommend it.
