When I began a new job last year, it involved visiting the courthouse for cases on a regular basis. The company was gracious enough to provide a Office Depot Mobile Folding File Cart to save our backs from carrying around heavy case files. Since I already experience back problems, I was grateful.
The file cart measures approximately 16"H x 18"W x 15"D and is black and gray in color. The cart can carry around 77 lbs. but is extremely durable. I can pack it full and not b worried about the bottom or sides caving in. It has a top cover to protect your files inside from hazardous weather conditions, or if you just want to shield important information from prying eyes. The cover definitely comes in handy here in Florida. I can hold my umbrella over my own head and not worry about shielding the cart also.
The cart folds up with the rubber wheels on the bottom. The sides have two pieces that latch on the side that lock the cart together for proper storage. You can choose to store it this way when not in use to take up less space. Mine just usually sits in my office when not in use. The two plastic pieces come apart going opposite ways. The plastic sides unfold outwards. The bottom piece goes down to form a platform and keeping the side from folding back in. The top cover sits on the top of the cart and covers your materials. There is an indentation on one end that allows the cover to go around the handle to prevent it from sliding off. There are instructions included to learn how to open and close the file cart but I’m sure most would be able to figure it out.
The file cart has an extendable handle for easy traveling. The handle locks in place and it has two different locking positions. This allows for those that are a little taller to be able to pull the handle out farther. There is a small notch on the top that you depress to push the handle back down or pull it out.
These carts were purchased at Office Depot. I’m not quite sure how much my company pays for them because we do get a business rate, but they are normally priced at $23.99. You can find other carts elsewhere for a little cheaper, but I have to say that this one is definitely worth the price because it is more sturdy than the cheaper brands.
The file cart is a collapsible, portable storage container that is easy to use and easy to tote around. It definitely saves my back from having to carrying around heavy files, especially when I am in court for more than one case at a time. It would be impossible to carry all my files at one time. Overall, I have to recommend it simply because it’s durable, easy to use and saves me body aches.
