Pros: pleasant scent; pretty shimmer; lasting moisture; rich, concentrated formula absorbs quickly and is non-greasy
Cons: some may not like (or expect) the shimmer; a little expensive for a drugstore moisturizer
I had wanted to try this for quite some time. Not because I really need another body lotion, considering the dozen or so half-used bottles under my bathroom sink. And not because I have extra dry skin (which I dont- it is normal to slightly dry, and I usually use some kind of body lotion a couple of times a week). Ill admit it, I was attracted to the pretty purple bottle! And I am a sucker for new products, regardless of whether I actually need them or not, so as soon as it was on sale at my local grocery store, I picked one up. I chose the formula for extra dry skin, because I like this particular scent the best, and when I am going to moisturize, I want the most moisturizing product I can get (seems like I am getting the best product for my money).
Here is what Olay says about this product:
Quench actually breaks the cycle of dry skin, eliminating the need to constantly reapply. Quench, with amino-vitamins and shea butter, is the next advancement in body care. This breakthrough non-greasy formula does more than simply moisturize, it can actually prevent dryness. First Quench provides an immediate burst of moisture that continues for 24 hours. Then, drawn deep into the skin's surface, it repairs and nourishes the moisture barrier, strengthening skin's resilience against everyday drying conditions.

There are 3 formulas available: one for Extra Dry skin, one for Normal to Dry skin, and one for Sensitive skin. It is also available in two sizes: an 8.4 oz. bottle and a 20.2 oz bottle with a pump-top. I purchased the 8.4 oz. size at my local grocery store. With my $1 off coupon I ended up paying $2.99.
The 8.4 oz. size comes in about a 6-inch tall, pale purple plastic bottle.. It has a flip-top cap and is designed to stand on its cap, so it is always easy to just flip open the cap and squeeze the product out.
This lotion is white in color. It is a nice, rich consistency. It has a very pleasant smell, like a combination of vanilla and baby powder. The scent is not overpowering and does not clash with any body washes, perfumes, etc. that I use, but it is noticeable. The scent does linger on my skin for several hours. The lotion is quickly absorbed into my skin; it is not greasy or sticky-feeling. I usually wait a few minutes anyways after applying body lotion to get dressed, and I do not have to wait any longer than I normally do when applying this lotion.
One thing I was surprised to see is that this lotion has tiny shimmer particles. I was just not expecting it to contain shimmer. It does not state on the label or indicate in any of its advertisements that this is a shimmer lotion. The shimmer is very subtle, and it is not noticeable until I rub the lotion completely into my skin (I could not see any shimmer particles when I squeezed the lotion onto my hand). It just gives my skin a bit of a sheen. In direct sunlight, if I look very closely I can see tiny, multicolored flecks of glitter. I dont think it is quite as glittery as the shimmer lotions from Nivea and Jergens, which I have also used. I think the shimmer effect is very pretty and not too flashy for every day. You just need to be aware that this does have shimmer, so if you do not like shimmer or are not expecting it, you might not like that about this product.
I think this product moisturizes very well. My skin is not extremely dry to begin with, but this just leaves my normal to slightly dry skin super soft and smooth. I would say it moisturizes for at least 24 hours, because when I use it my skin is still soft and smooth when I go to take a shower the next day. And even though the shimmer is gone by the next day, my skin seems to still have a bit of a healthy sheen to it. I would say this lotion improves the look and feel of my skin.
There is not much more to say, by now you can probably tell that I think this is pretty good stuff! It has become my new favorite moisturizer. It does everything I want a moisturizer to do. It smells nice and keeps my skin soft and smooth. I dont know if it actually breaks the cycle of dry skin, just because my skin is generally not that dry to begin with. Pretty much any moisturizer I have tried keeps my skin from getting too dry. What is unique about this is that my skin stays noticeably moisturized for 24 hours. The fact that it contains shimmer, too, is like a bonus!
This product is available at drugstores, discount stores, grocery stores, and drugstores online. Its regular price is around $5.99 for the smaller size and $10.99 for the larger size. Now personally, I think the price is a little steep for a drugstore body lotion. Do I think it is worth it-definitely! But being the cheapskate that I am, I will until its on sale and I have a coupon to buy it again (Olay usually has coupons in the Sunday newspaper once a month or so). With summer coming, too, Im thinking of giving the Normal to Dry skin version a try next.
