KMINER's Full Review: Olay Body Ultra Moisture Body Wash with Shea Butte...
My son who's 9 has realized that he showers better when he uses a body wash, but often washes can dry out his sensitive skin. In an effort to help him with this, while still allowing him to shower independently, we purchased a variety of retail body washes we felt might be more moisturizing for him, including Olay Body Ultra Moisture Body Wash with Shea Butter.
The product comes in a white, slim plastic bottle with a yellow flip top lid. The packaging states it holds just over 23 ounces. The bottle curves in toward the middle for easier holding and has a flat bottom base to rest on. We purchased this product for around $5 with a coupon.
One of the reasons we purchased this Olay product is because we like Olay products in general and have had much success with them. We also liked the idea that this claimed to be a "soap-free" product and contained shea butter, which we knew to be moisturizing.
From the company:
"Olay Ultra Moisture Body Wash nourishes skin completely with a soap-free cleansing formula for gentle cleansing, rinsing clean to keep in moisture without leaving a heavy residue. It moisturizes with nourishing vitamins E, A & B3 -- enriched Olay moisturizers that penetrate deep within the surface for conditioning skin for up to 24 hours."
The product is creamy white and almost looks like a body cream when you squeeze it out. It's thick, but lathers well. (so not overly thick) The product does have a light shea butter scent. (which is a pretty natural, go with anything type of scent that I find comforting) To use we dimply squeeze some of the product on our shower poof and then lather on skin and rinse.
A number of family members have used our Olay Body Ultra Moisture Body Wash with Shea Butter. What's interesting is that we've all had similar feelings on the product.
It is just average.
The scent is nice as is the lather. It's soft enough to use. It's just that after the shower we don't really notice a difference. My son does not use lotion after his shower and this product has not made his skin soft as other body washes we have used does. I typically use lotion after my showers, and I've noticed drying off that my skin does not feel any softer after using this wash. Granted, it doesn't make my skin dry and filmy the way other "soapy" washes can, but really for us this has been just a completely average product. No "Wow!" factor at all.
Thankfully, we do have another Olay body wash that we as a family love, and that one does make our skin really soft. So as far as Olay Body Ultra Moisture Body Wash with Shea Butter goes, I'd say unless you are really addicted to having the shea butter scent, there are more moisturizing body washes out there.
