chelledun's Full Review: Olay Body Wash Plus Tone Enriching Ribbons 10oz.
I'm currently on a bit of a beauty product diet. This means that I'm spending less time browsing Lush and Sephora and more time wandering the aisles of my local drug store searching for deals on soaps and shampoos. After a recent sniff test, I came home with a $7.00 bottle of Olay Body Wash with Tone Enhancing Ribbons. Quite frankly, I'm relatively satisfied with the quality and value of this product and wouldn't hesitate to try a different body wash in this line.
Product Details This body wash is part of Olay's constantly-expanding line of products with "ribbons." You can get lotion ribbons, crème ribbons, and exfoliating ribbons, each promising to fulfill a specific purpose in skin improvement. My tone enhancing variety promised to improve skin tone, reduce discoloration, and moisturize using a "mineral shimmer" ribbon. All varieties come in eighteen ounce squeeze bottles with pop-tops. This is a pretty hefty bottle, but I find that the body wash spurts out very quickly so it may not last as long as I expected.
Olay products can be found virtually anywhere. I bought mine at Walmart but I've seen them at CVS and Walgreens too. Drugstore.com also has a wide range of these body washes.
My Experience I picked the tone enhancing variety of Olay Body Wash because it smelled like Banana Boat sunscreen - one of my very favorite smells! This means it is also rather gender neutral, and mr_chelledun can use it in a pinch. The scent permeates the shower and lingers on my skin after I get out. It is also neutral enough that I can use my choice of lotions afterwards without creating a funky blend.
Now, the big question: does Olay Body Wash with Tone Enhancing Ribbons enhance my skin tone and moisturize? It certainly does moisturize. Olay Body Wash feels thick and creamy going on and seems to sink in instantly. It actually reminds me of a more expensive cream body wash I once purchased from The Body Shop. I find myself feeling less dry throughout the day, too, even on typically itchy spots like my back. Impressive! The question of this body wash's skin toning properties, however, I am less confident in answering. It's certainly possible that my skin tone is slightly brighter, more even, or lustrous, but I just plain don't notice a different one way or another. I even asked mr_chelledun for a second opinion and he opined, "it looks about the same." So much for that.
Overall . . . If you can ignore the silly skin-toning claims, Olay Body Wash with Tone Enhancing Ribbons is a pretty decent drug store body wash. I love the low price, subtle scent, and moisturizing properties and would definitely purchase this wash again.
