The Bottom Line: If you have sensitive skin, definitely avoid it. If you aren't sure whether your skin is easily irritated, give it a try, you might be luckier than I was!

I am a self confessed beauty product junkie. If I find a new product, I can't resist trying it, whether or not I have a perfectly good product at home. For instance, I recently went shopping and came across a tube of Olay Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel and couldn't resist purchasing it, despite the fact I have a wonderful face wash already. My impulse purchase was a bad one though. I definitely should have left this product on the shelves!
~*~Cost~*~
I purchased my 7.0 FL OZ tube of Olay Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel at my local Wal-Mart for $4.97. This is a relatively new product, but, you should be able to find it where Olay products are sold, varying in price.
~*~Some Details~*~
Olay Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel is a face wash formulated for combination/oily skin. According to Olay this product "deep cleans to remove dirt, oil and makeup without overdrying."
This face wash comes in a standard tube with a flip top lid. It sits on the lid, so dispensing is always easy. It is a foaming face wash and the wash itself is a very creamy consistency. Olay Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel is Dermatologist tested.
Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Sodium Lauroyl, Sarcosinate, Myristic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Lauric Acid, Witch Hazel, Polyquaternim-10, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Pentasodium Pentetate, DMDM Hydantoin, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate Fragrance.
~*~My Experience~*~
I was initially pretty impressed with Olay Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel. The first time I used it I loved the rich, foaming lather that this wash provided. I was pleased with the way it left my skin looking and feeling. All was perfect and I was very happy with my purchase.
Then, on the third day of use, I noticed that I had a few small pimples that had appeared almost over night. I didn't think much of it at first. Within a week of using this product, I was breaking out worse than I ever had. I also noticed that my skin had started getting rather itchy.
I decided to stop using Olay Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel for a few days to see if my skin would clear up. Within two days the itchiness I had experienced was gone, and my breakouts had eased up. Needless to say, my bottle of Olay Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel now sits untouched.
I did like several things about this product, which is why I'm so disappointed I can't use it anymore. I liked that it took a very small amount to create a nice, foamy lather. With a little bit going a long way, this product was sure to last. It also cleansed my skin very well, and I was happy with the results. It worked well with my combination skin at first, without any dryness. It cleansed well, leaving my skin feeling very clean. It has a very light, pleasing scent that I enjoyed.
The only thing that I can imagine happened was that the witch hazel was just too strong for my skin. I'm not one who has extremely sensitive and easily irritated skin, so this really surprises me!
~*~Overall Recommendation~*~
I'm kind of on the wall with recommending Olay Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel. While it has good qualities, I think that this product just might be too harsh for some. As I mentioned above, it was obviously too harsh for me, and I don't have overly sensitive skin! So, if you have sensitive skin, definitely avoid it. If you aren't sure whether your skin is easily irritated, give it a try, you might be luckier than I was!
