| atamogaokashii's Full Review: Olay Deep Cleansing Face Wash with Witch Hazel |
My skin is a nice shade of peach and I would probably consider it combination. My cheeks are pretty dry, parts of my forehead are pretty dry, but my chin and nose and around my hairline can be pretty oily. So, on the day when I was wandering around the store in my jeans that are too long so the bottom of the legs have become frayed in the back from dragging on the ground, I found this face wash.
Oil of Olay products have always made me happy, namely their facial moisturizer and their shower cleanser. I felt confident in my purchase of deep cleansing face wash with witch hazel. I used to use witch hazel on my face in my more greasy teenage years. It smelled funny. I'm not so sure if it helped out that much.
I've never had serious issues with my skin, only occasional breakouts, sometimes a monster zit popping up on my chin. The deep cleansing part of the name really attracted me to this bottle of face wash. And it claims to remove dirt and makeup without overdrying. Who wants to have an overdry face?
I chose the bottle for the combination/oily skin types because I felt that fit the description of my skin. The bottle is white, it's 7 oz., and it has flip top cap on the bottom for easy dispensing. It stands up nicely on your bathroom counter. The face wash is thick and white, and it kind of has a metallic sheen about it. It smells like soap. In fact, I'm not really fond of the smell. It just smells...it just smells too soapy!!
The directions instruct you to wet your face first and then lather it on your face. This stuff does not lather that much. By this I mean great amounts of bubbly foam don't appear, but it gets the job the done. It rinses off my face easily enough and leaves my skin clean. I can't remember feeling any residue left behind.
The results of this stuff are just average. It didn't necessarily make my face any worse, but my skin doesn't look any better since I've been using it. My face is not all the way zit free. And there is some overdrying in the parts of my face that are already dry to begin with. My forehead and cheeks get kind of flaky. So the claim that this will deep clean without overdrying is false. At least for me.
This facewash would probably work better for people with oily skin, not combination.
Overall, this facewash is just so so. It cleans my face, but doesn't produce fantastic results. I'm not so sure if I would buy this again, but if this were the only facewash product available to me I wouldn't be totally disappointed. Three stars from me.
