Pros: Moisturizes well for what it is; no residue; smells great; no slippery tub (for me)
Cons: It's easy to go through a bottle in a short time; no unscented formula
The Bottom Line: This is a great product for busy mornings or as an extra layer of moisturizing under a body lotion. I don't think it's a substitute for all body lotions, however.

| moonsista's Full Review: Olay Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion |
I saw an ad for Olay's newest product, Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion in a magazine a few weeks ago. A lotion that you apply in the shower and rinse off? I had visions of myself getting this all over my bath tub and slipping, falling and cracking my head against the bath tub. That didn't stop me, however, from putting this product in my shopping cart a few weeks ago at Wal-Mart! Who has ever heard of me not trying a new beauty product? If it's new, it goes in my cart! Head cracking open or not!
Product Details:
Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion is a body lotion that is applied to your wet skin after you are done cleansing with your normal body wash or soap in the shower. After application, just rinse it off.
Moisturinse comes in two formulas: Normal To Dry Skin and Extra Dry Skin. Both of these formulas are scented.
This product comes in an 8.4 oz. flip-bottom plastic bottle. The top is pearly off-white and the bottom is either purple (the Extra Dry Skin formula) or pink (the Normal To Dry Skin formula). The bottom flips open easily and the product is squeezed out onto your hand.
From Olay.com:
Olay has a revolutionary way to softer, smoother skin that will change the way you moisturize. Stop applying and reapplying body lotion - and start using the power of your shower to moisturize your skin like never before. Like a hair conditioner, Olay In Shower Body Lotion is applied onto skin in the shower after cleansing, then rinsed off. Specially designed to work with the humidity and warmth of your shower. It infuses skin with nourishing moisture at the ideal moment for moisturizing skin. The result is softer, smoother, more nourished skin.
Ingredients (taken from Olay.com):
Water, Petrolatum, Dimethicone, Glycerin, Fragrance, Cetyl Hydroxyethylcellulose, Glutamic Acid, Cetyl Alcohol, DMDM Hydantoin, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethiconol, Stearyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Montmorillonite
My Experience:
I was intrigued by this product mainly because I like to try new beauty products. But I was also interested in the possibility that I could skip a step at 5 AM each day by quickly applying and rinsing off a body lotion in less time than it would take me to apply a body lotion and rubbing it into my skin after I'm out of the shower.
While shopping at Wal-Mart one day, I found a display for Moisturinse and decided on the Extra Dry Skin formula. It's not that I think my skin is so dry that it needs this formula. It's more that I've used Olay products in the past and they can be a bit inferior in the moisturizing department - so I decided to try the Moisturinse containing the most moisture.
Once I'm in the shower am done cleansing with my normal body wash and am done washing and conditioning my hair, I apply the Moisturinse. This product looks exactly like a body lotion. It is very thick and creamy and is white. There are no moisturizing beads or other things that are mixed in. It glides onto my wet skin quickly and easily. It gets thinner in consistency once it starts to mix with the water on my skin.
I have tried applying Moisturinse before I wash and condition my hair, but I find that too much of the moisture obtained from this product washes off my skin while I'm washing and conditioning my hair. It's best (in my opinion) to use this product last. At first I used the packaging directions: use a quarter-sized amount for each area of the body. Yeah, right! I didn't think that was enough. I use an amount about the size of a half dollar and that suits me better. I slather it on fairly thickly and find that I get more moisture that way.
The scent of Moisturinse (my Extra Dry Skin formula, at least) is a mixture of a fresh scent and a floral scent. I wouldn't classify it as either type of scent individually but more of a mixture of both. It's also not a very "unisex" scent and is more of a feminine scent. Moisturinse is not lightly scented - the scent is fairly strong and scents my shower and bathroom while I use it.
Rinsing off is easy. I thought that Moisturinse would be hard to rinse off and would leave a greasy residue. It doesn't do that at all - it rinses off easily, leaves no waxy or greasy residue and doesn't make the water "bead up" on my skin.
The directions on the bottle say to "pat dry" with a towel when out of the shower. Sorry, Olay - I don't always have time to pat my skin dry. I'm always running late in the morning - and I don't have time to stand there and pat my skin. So I'm making that towel literally fly. I think that in the process of doing this, I'm probably wiping off some of the moisture - but that's a chance I'm willing to take.
Speaking of toweling off - don't worry that Moisturinse will stain your bath towels. It won't. I have pale mint green towels, and have been using this for several weeks and haven't had a stain yet.
Another thing that Moisturinse hasn't done is leave a greasy or slippery residue in my tub. I didn't see how it couldn't, but it really doesn't. Not even a trace. It also doesn't leave a ring of any sort along the bottom edges of the tub.
Once out of the shower and dried off, my skin feels supple, smooth and somewhat moisturized. It doesn't feel like I have just applied a body lotion or a body cream, though - it's more of a lightly moisturized feel. The scent does not last long on the skin. This is a good thing - I don't want it to interfere with the fragrance of my body lotion and perfume!
Overall, I'm very pleased with Moisturinse. I use it every morning because I'm finding that I'm somewhat addicted to it. The bad news is that I'm ready for a new bottle already. I got about three weeks of use out of this bottle. So I'll be buying about a bottle a month. It doesn't replace my normal body lotions, creams and butters however - I still like that very moisturized feeling that I get from those products - but I like the extra layer of moisture that I'm getting from Moisturinse. I will buy this again and will continue to use it, especially in the winter.
Price and Purchasing Information:
My bottle of Moisturinse was reasonably priced at my local Wal-Mart at $3.67. The only other store where I have noticed this product is my local CVS drugstore - this is only because it's a new product and has limited availability in the beginning, like all new products.
