Great in a pinch, but doesn't quite cut it

Pros: Lovely scent, glides on easily, rinses cleanly
Cons: Doesn't moisturize as well as traditional lotions
The Bottom Line: Good in a pinch or for travel, but it's not going to replace my regular after-shower lotion any time soon

| soni63's Full Review: Olay Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion |
I have been a skincare fanatic for most of my adult life. For years I had my particular favorite brands and stuck stubbornly to them, never even considering trying something else that might be better.
Then I turned 40 and became adventurous. I wanted to break away from my old, suddenly boring standards and try something new. My husband can rest easy, though; my desire to roam only applied to my beauty items.
I had read about Olay's new Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion in one of the beauty magazines when it first became available to the public, but didn't pay much attention to it. I was still enamored with my Avon SSS body lotion and wasn't interested in anything else.
About two months ago, I visited my local CVS to restock my supply of L'Oreal Exfotonic. As I searched the shelves in vain, I kept coming across Olay's Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion, which was on sale. Knowing I had a coupon in my coupon wallet that I always carry with me, I decided, "Okay, I'll try it" and purchased the normal to dry skin formulation.
I like the bottle, which is plastic and designed with the flip-top cap on the bottom so that all the product easily dispenses even when it's running low. Because I always turn my shampoo and conditioner bottles upside-down when they're almost empty for the same reason, I appreciated the nice touch.
The product label lists the ingredients as follows:
Water, Petrolatum, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Fragrance, Catyl Hydroxyethylcellulose, Stearmidopropyl Dimethylamine, Dimethiconol, DMDM Hydantoin, Glutamic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Phenoxethanol, Montmorillonite
Make note that the above list challenged my typing skills.
Except for the water and the fragrance, the rest of it might as well be in Russian. This isn't a lotion, it's a chemistry set!
My experience in the shower wasn't so positive. The idea behind the product is to moisturize while still in the shower in order to eliminate the extra step of moisturizing afterward. The idea works in theory, but not in practice. I had to wash with my usual shower gel, rinse, then apply the Moisturinse lotion and rinse it off. Think of it as conditioner for the skin. But it really didn't save me a step; by applying the moisturizer while still in the shower instead of afterward, all I did was change the order in which I applied moisturizer.
That said, Olay's Moisturinse In Shower Body Lotion smelled wonderful and had a silky consistency that glided on smoothly. It rinsed off cleanly as well, but unlike other reviewers, it left my tub very slippery. However, because we just had our bathroom completely redone, I'll allow for the fact that the brand-new tub surface was probably more slippery than usual to begin with.
As for the results, I found that the lotion didn't moisturize my skin as well as my regular after-shower body lotion, although the pleasant scent did linger for a long time afterward.
I can see using this lotion in a pinch, or taking it when traveling to avoid having to pack an additional bottle of moisturizer. But I'll stick to my old Avon SSS body lotion and will continue to moisturize the old-fashioned way: while still damp from my shower.
