If you're a bourbon drinker, that's what you drink, you drink a fair amount of it, you appreciate smoothness over any other characteristic, and if you can buy something just as good as the best out there for half the price, you'll rarely buy anything else. If you fit the above, well consider yourself having a bottle of Old Forester in your cabinet from here on out.
As unpretentious as it is affordable, this bourbon is as smooth and good tasting as any you'll find save for maybe some of the small batch stuff. It's great straight - in a shot glass or over ice. It's proof doesn't suffer from it's lack of bite and will have those end of day stress points melting right away.
I've been drinking bourbon for a long time. My grandfather used to "poor me a sip" when I was eyeball with the countertop and I'd see those small jelly glasses shimmering with that caramel colored magic. But the low dollar stuff he drank made me appreciate the finer stuff, and his depression era stinginess also said don't waste your money.
Tell people you're pouring them the finest bourbon in the store without showing them the bottle and watch them drop their jaws at your seemingly big spending tendencies. Grandad would be pleased with Old Forester and you will be too. You'll never feel guilty buying this bottle - or for that matter, drinking it either.
