As a Mom I am always looking for great values on shoes and clothing. Our family shops often at Old Navy, because I can find just about any clothing product I need for any member of the family!
I was commenting on my best friend's pair of flip flops this summer (she seems to have every color under the sun!) and she mentioned that many of her summer flip flops come from Old Navy! So the next time I was in the store, I picked up a neutral pair in black (though I drooled over the other colors, especially the bright green!)
The Adult Flip Flops come in both Men's and Women's versions. The Women's have some variety (wedge, metallic, embellished, etc) as does the Men's (patterned, printed, striped, leather, etc). Many people I know, including myself, purchase their regular design flip flops. These come as a plastic sandal in a variety of solid colors. Sizes range in whole sizes from 5 to 11, and wearing a size 7 I was easily able to find many that fit. The company states this flip flop is "92% synthetic materials and 8% rubber." The soles are now textured and there is an "Old Navy" logo stamp where your heel rests. Current versions have a textured sole.
Honestly, I had seen the Old Navy Flip Flops hanging in the store before and passed them on by. The prices range (depending on the season and sale) to $5 a pair and lower, and I felt at such a low price these would be flimsy and fall apart. Finally I decided that at the price they were, even if they got me through one summer season, I had still gotten a decent deal.
I was surprised that my pair of Old Navy Flip Flops are still going strong.
Maybe it's the color I purchased, black, it's a kind of go with anything color that doesn't really show any wear. But I worried that with such a light shoe that these would really take a beating. I thought that with such thin straps and simple plug type holder (meaning the straps go through the shoe and have a small plug looking circle on the bottom) they would rip apart quickly.
I actually found these summer flip flops to be really durable, as well as comfortable! I was able to toss these into a bag and they held up well all summer! I wore them to the lake, the beach, the ocean, all over town for errands, in my classroom setting up for the summer, and during cleaning at home. I reached for these flip flops the most, and found them to be the most versatile summer shoe I owned!
I also noticed these were the perfect shoe when cleaning. Summer is usually when I decide to tear everything out of my house and hose things outside, stand in the showers and really scrub away, and the like. These Old Navy Adult Flip Flops worked great for each cleaning, and I was able to easily rinse them off, let them dry outside, and still wear them to the grocery store later!
My only limitations to this particular summer shoe is that I don't feel they are appropriate for a work setting - and as an elementary school teacher we are not allowed to wear flip flops on instructional days. So now that the school year has been is session, these flip flops are my "home" shoe. So I don't see myself needing multiple pairs in a variety of colors, but I will certainly pick up a few more pairs at the beginning of next summer!
