Pros:IT works! Clears nasal passages. Claims to kill bacterial and also fungus! No side effects.
Cons:Difficult to find.
The Bottom Line: It is a MUST-HAVE for your medicine cabinet! Great to have on hand for allergies, sinus infections, flus and colds!
I was sick for two weeks and went through all my natural remedies to get through it, but I must say it was getting the best of me. I finally had to break down and get some antibiotics from the doctor. But even with those, I still had serious head-clogging issues and totally plugged ears as well as sinuses. I tried everything from a hot vaporizer with essential oils to saline and baking soda nose rinses. I was a little fed up that nothing much was helping and I felt poorly, until I made a trip to my local vitamin store and picked up this Seagate Olive Leaf Nasal Spray. I figured I had to try something that I don't normally try...and I'm glad I did!

First off, I have been hearing good things about Olive Leaf Extract (taken orally or sprayed in the nose, etc.) and so that's what made me decide to grab it. I won't use any over-the-counter nasal sprays or decongestants. For one, I have a thyroid problem and I have to avoid most OTC (Over the Counter) drugs having to do with colds/sinuses or allergies. Not to mention, I am on a more "natural" kick...I am looking for ways to reduce the severity and get rid of or avoid sickness altogether (not to "cover" up my symptoms).
I first sprayed my nostrils about once each (just to try it out to see how I would react). Later in the evening, I was up to 3 squirts per nostril. It's easy to use, you just pull of the cap and inset into the nose (prime the pump first) and then squirt and it sprays right up into the nostril (it gets it way up there, too). The bottle says to use 1-3 sprays in each nostril every 2 or 4 hours. So I worked my way up to that by the night time. By night, I could BREATHE. I was thinking "No way". I mean I've tried antibiotics and "the works" and just a few squirts of this and I'm breathing for the first time in weeks? WOW! Seriously, this is my new miracle "natural" cold, allergy and sinus infection (or stuffy nose) product. I feel safe using it on myself and will on my children, if needed. In fact I feel it's safer than the OTC options out there such as Vick's Nasal spray, and so on. I feel these may have addictive properties or side effects that could be scary or unpleasant. My chest even was clearing up (maybe breaking up the mucos in my body).
The ingredients in this are:
Olive Leaf Extract (Olea Europa) 4x
Wild Indigo (Baptisia Tinctoria) 4x
and other ingredients are: USP Purified Water, Xylitol Powder, Sodium Chloride, Grapefruit Seed Extract, and Sodium Hydroxide (balances PH).
I feel it has a unique and wonderful blend of ingredients that work and at an affordable price. I paid about $7.83 for mine. You can find it on Amazon.com for $8.96 and the same price from Vitaminlife.com. Nutritiongeeks.com is about the same price.
Now, I decided to test it out in my complicated and seriously plugged ears. I hadn't been able to hear for a week in one at all. So I squirted and laid to my side (now I don't recommend this) and my ears cleared about 30% after that. A few more squirts, one more day and CLEAR. I don't know but I think I'm sold on this product. Baking soda and sea salt, antibiotics, and assorted things weren't doing as well as this!
Now Seagate's website (Seagateproducts.com) claims that it is safe for children as well (yeah). They claim it's a "natural" antimicrobial, and that it kills bacteria (and bacterial colonies). It has antiseptic properties (wild indigo), antimicrobial (olive leaf extract), and the Grapefruit Seed Extract is also an antimicrobial. Not only good for bacterial infections (maybe I should've skipped the antibiotics altogether) but great for fungal infections as well. It's possible to have a fungal sinus infection or fungal infections in the ears and so on (so this covers both possibilities). If you visit their website, they have a really cool lab analysis about how quickly it kills mold, fungus and bacteria: http://www.seagateproducts.com/olive-leaf-nasal-spray.html
Personally, I'm always a little leary of homeopathic remedies because I have a thyroid condition and have to watch whatever I take whether it be an OTC drug, prescription medication or herbal remedy. I'm also leary because I lack knowledge in the "herbal/homeopathic" realm, there isn't hard data on homeopathy, but there is Government information out there on Over the Counter medication (I find to be sad). There is Wild Indigo in this (Baptistia Tinctoria) and I wasn't sure about this ingredient. But I will say that it has worked fine and feels safe to me (I have not had any weird side effects).
Overall: an excellent product, a great find for me! I'm glad I did not have to spend hundreds of dollars at the vitamin store to find the right homeopathic or natural remedy for me. I will definitely keep this stocked in my medicine cabinet!
