| zx1100f1's Full Review: Olympus Stylus Zoom 80 Wide DLX 35mm Film Camera |
The Olympus Stylus Zoom 80 is a very small camera!
If small size is priority #1 then keep reading,if a bigger camera is OK then look to a different camera.
I will start by saying that: I am not a photography/camera expert,"nor will any person that is interested in purchasing this or any other point and shoot be."
I read the instruction book and followed it.
The Olympus I purchased was for a trip I took to Japan, I wanted to travel light and have a camera with a Zoom lens that would easily fit into a jacket pocket, The Stylus 80 fit the bill.
The camera is extremely easy to use, You basically open the lens cover, wait 3 seconds for the lens to extend and shoot.
Film loading is the easiest of any camera I have ever seen.
I consistently was able to get 25 exposures out of every 24 exposure roll I used.
I ran Fuji 400 asa, Kodak 400 Max and a cheap no-name 200 asa film "15 rolls of film in all."
All the films turned out very similar results, Slightly darker "underexposed" and some blurry "out of focus" pictures, None of the photos had any real nice detail to them at all,
I also had the film developed at 3 different locations.
The Zoom lens can just barely be called a "Zoom lens", it sure doesn't have much power.
I think that the glass lens is simply to small to produce any real nice quality shots and it also doesn't seam to gather quite enough light to get the job done.
Most of the days were overcast and it was particularly bad on these days, When the sun was out bright the photos were much crisper "But still not that great."
All in all, If you need small there is a penalty to be paid, but that is not to say that it doesn't take OK snapshots, But that's all they are is just OK.
