tkd_grant's Full Review: Olympus FE-230 Digital Camera
I bought this camera about a year ago or so. What really drew me to it was how compact and lightweight it was; it's very easy to just slip in ur pocket and forget it's even there. I have another point and shoot camera that's so bulky you have to resort to wearing it around your neck, but not this camera.
In terms of picture quality, overall I'd say this camera does an adequate job. I've taken a number of pictures that, when blown up on the computer, seem as if they were taken with a high-caliber SLR, not this simple point and shoot. On the other hand, some of the pictures I've taken come out slightly fuzzy, which can definitely be annoying. The zoom feature on this camera is pointless--zooming in just a little produces a low quality, blurry shot. One of the downsides.
But I'd definitely say the BIGGEST downside to this camera is the shutter. It takes FOREVER to just take a simple picture. You ask your friends to smile, and it seems 30 seconds later the camera will actually take the picture. It's EXTREMELY annoying, and in my opinion, is good enough reason to purchase a different camera.
There is a video/microphone setting on the camera that works well and produces good video/sound when uploaded on to the computer. I've taken numerous videos and have been pleasantly surprised with the results.
Overall I cannot recommend this camera when there are so many other ones of the same type that will do a better, QUICKER job. It's lightweight, the image quality is decent most of the time ,and the video/sound quality features are good, but the zoom feature and shutter speed are absolutely horrible.
Not recommended.
