kzdad's Full Review: Olympus SP-350 Digital Camera
We all want the "perfect" digital camera rather we are parents capturing the moments of our children growing up or if you want to get somewhat serious and indulge in some amateur photography. When I started my research for cameras, I knew I wanted an Olympus because the brand alone has reputation for quality and crisp photos, plus most of them have a wide range of accessories available to give your photographs or snapshots even more of an oompfh than the average camera.
The Olympus SP-350 is has an 8.1 MP, which basically means, it has a stronger resolution for photos you want printed either at home or at your favorite print shop. There are many options available for taking photos, for instance you can set it on auto and let it do it's own judgments on apature settings, flash and motion settings, and back lighting or you can set it on the other options available and create your own settings. There's yet another option on the "wheel" to select portrait styles and range from self-portrait, to snow settings, underwater, sports, available light, candle, and several others.
If you're a beginner or a pro, this is the perfect little camera for you in my opinion. It fits nicely in your hand with sort of a handle on it, it's lightweight (until you add on the accessories), and it's small size fits easily in your jacket pocket or purse. The photo quality will vary depending on your skills with a camera, but if you set it on a tripod, this will minimize motion blur and since it has a mount for the tripod, all you have to do is screw it down onto your tripod.
Accessories you can add, but aren't included are memory cards, lenses, underwater case, and a flash. The accessories aren't cheap, for instance, I paid $250 for the flash itself and over $100 each for the lenses as I have several telephoto lenses and two different wide angle lenses. In order to use the lenses on the camera, you have to buy an attachment for which they screw on it. You can't just buy a lense and screw it directly onto the camera, you have to have the adapter. Once the accessories are added on, you have a lightweight camera to a top-heavy, bulky camera! The flash it pretty heavy!
Anyhow, I've taken some semi-professional type photos and thousands of snapshots and this camera has never let me down. You have an LCD panel on the back so you can preview the pictures and delete the ones you do not want. You can turn off the built-in flash or turn it off on the back of the camera also. Battery life is decent. I've put over 200 pictures on the memory card without having to charge them up. It does come with a standard Olympus battery pack, but I suggest tossing it once it's used up and buy a good set of rechargeable batteries, otherwise, you'll go through a load of batteries if you don't.
Overall all, decent megapixel, lightweight, and easy to use for anyone!
