Pros: Fits in a pocket, and print quality is good.
Cons: XD cards aren't as flexible as SD, and the Olympus software is limited.
The Bottom Line: If you hesitate to carry around a larger camera but don't want to miss a shot, then you'll like the Olympus 710.

I bought a 710 for a vacation, and it was perfect for quick snapshots. I had a small Minolta digital (4mp), but wasn't happy with the print quality. I almost went for a big digital SLR that would take perfect shots, but figured the photos I take are better than the ones I don't. The 710 was small and convenient enough to take everywhere, so I never missed a shot. The preset scenes worked quite well, and the guide settings let me bracket enough to make sure the photos were great. It's a good basic digital, with the megapixels to print well. The water-resistance was a plus, too. I went to a particularly rainy destination, and happily snapped away in the rain while other tourists were packing away their sensitive digitals. The only drawbacks are the XD card and the Olympus software. The card is more expensive than SD cards, and the software limits the ability to download images to any computer. Olympus forbids the use of their software on multiple computers. I like to download images during travel to a small laptop, but use my desktop to manipulate the photos for printing. Can't do that with the Olympus system.
