Pros: Many modes, low light ability, small size
Cons: The only semi-con is the non-stadard XD card.
The Bottom Line: Excellent camera. When Olympus replaces this with a 16 megapixel model I will upgrade.

| candide08's Full Review: Olympus Stylus 800 / µ 800 Digital Camera |
I have had a few digital cameras now and have frequently had to upgrade when a newer bigger camera was announced. This camera has lasted me for more than 2 years now and still does everything I need. Maybe when they have a 16 or 20 mega-pixel camera I will need to trade up.
No "point and shoot" camera will produce "professional" SLR quality pictures. However I do not want to carry around a huge SLR camera, digital or not. Small, portable digital cameras, like this one, have allowed me to shoot more pictures than I ever would have otherwise.
A camera this size is easy to carry most everywhere, so I can snap pictures whenever the impulse strikes.
There are many features available, more than I care to write about here. I use the "anti shake," red-eye removal and the macro mode the most. Close up macro images of flowers are amazing in the detail. Trimmed images can easily make a quality 8x10 print.
Color rendition is excellent.
Olympus has always had an advantage in "low light" ability and this camera is no exception. Shooting from the "scene" menu allows one to select an "existing light" mode that shoots in low light with no flash. Motion stop, portraits, self-timer and many other features are useful and very nice to have.
Some of the newest cameras may be smaller but this is a better POS digital than the vast majority of other cameras.
