Pros: Full 90 minutes of recording, easy use with no frills, or full frill capabilities too.
Cons: Use of all capabilities will require frequent use of manual, so don't lose it!
The Bottom Line: This is a great, super small, convenient, Digital Voice Recorder which can be used easily with no frills or with full functions: voice activation, alarms, 4 mailboxes and more.

| pattia's Full Review: Olympus VN-900 (1.5 Hours) Handheld Digital Voice ... |
I received the Olympus VN-900 Digital Voice Recorder for Christmas 2002.
Size: 1 1/2 inches wide, 3 3/4 inches long, very tiny!
Ease of Use: To use without reading the manual it is pretty straight forward if all you want to do is small recordings and are willing to fiddle with the buttons a little until you realize how to use it. If you want to use all the functions, you better keep the manual handy as you will need to refer to it often. This little (and I mean little) voice recorder is packed with options and features.
Features: Time, date, 3 regular folders, and 1 schedule folder, pause, fast forward, rewind, ear phone capable (doesn't come with it), a switch to voice activate it for use in meetings so it doesn't wear out the batteries as fast, clip for hooking onto a belt, strap capable (although it does not come with one), the microphone sensitivity has an adjustment feature to accommodate loud or soft situations, alarm feature for dates in the schedule folder, lots of different settings that can be turned on or off to adjust it to your likes or dislikes, and a handy button to put all the buttons on "lock" or "hold" as they call it, so if you put it in your purse, the buttons will not be activated, oh, and I forgot, 90 minutes of digital recording time.
The bottom line: I plan to use this in my car for directions, things to buy at the grocery store, to record phone numbers or other information that I cannot write down while driving if someone calls me on my cell. I probably will not use the alarm functions, scheduler, or voice activation feature. That said, I would be inclined to use the other 3 folders to put phone numbers, directions,or things to remember in each of it's separate folders. If you are willing to invest a lot of time initially into learning the features that this recorder provides, it has a whole lot of capabilities that could be useful at home, but especially for the busy executive on the go. I did test all of the functions, and they work flawlessly, but I felt some were not worth the effort involved to use them. You need to be the judge depending on how important the functions are to you and how much time you wish to spend learning them. That said, if you used the functions every day, you would probably remember them given enough practice. I still recommend hanging onto the manual as you will likely need to refer back to it often if you choose to use any of the advanced functions.
I will update this review after I have used it longer, but so far, I already know I love it! I think it is going to be a very valuable, easy to use tool.
