lllopez's Full Review: On Stage Stands Sp58 Steel Mesh Microphone Grille
Shure SM 58 microphones are perhaps the most widely used performance microphone in the music industry. Granted there are others that perhaps rival and surpass the '58 but it has proven itself in the trenches night after night delivering timeless and consistent quality, an attribute rarely seen in any product from many industries.
So when we wanted to freshen up our microphones we considered buying new and relented, opting instead to refurbish our mic's with new cabling and replacing some of the dented screens with On Stage SP 58 Wire Mesh Grilles. SM 58 grille dents can be pushed out from the inside but after a while, they lose their shape and the steel loses its integrity.
An obvious replacement for the SM 58, the Onstage SP 58 constructed of wire mesh with die cast zinc retainer rings much like the original '58. Inside the Onstage replacement includes a foam pop filter, which helps minimize annoying vocal pops and wind noise. The standard thread also makes the On Stage SP 58 Wire Mesh Grilles a natural adaptable to other manufacturers mic's as well.
For under twenty dollars, you really do get your moneys worth from the On Stage SP 58 Wire Mesh Grilles They are readily available and look and perform like original equipment; it's one of those products I will use again and again.
