The One Touch Can Opener is retail for $19.99. I bought mine at Bed, Bath, and Beyond using their 20% off coupons about 4 months ago. Let me say this on a side note: Never, ever buy anything from Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Linens’N Things without a coupon. These coupons are easily found on every Sunday newspaper or online. Both their coupons are interchangeable because these two stores are competitors. Most of their coupons can be use on most items but not all of their items. Exclusions are noted on the coupon.
Back to the One Touch Can Opener: It requires two AA batteries. It is as simple as it gets. I simply set on top of the can and press the button. It automatically opens cans without any other effort from me. I don’t need to apply any pressure or twisting to cut open a can again. No more crappy teeth that just slips and slides around the top of the can. Unlike manual can openers, it cuts beneath the lid.
It is a great and simple gift for older people or people with arthritis.
Ease of use: 10/10. How simple can this get. Set it and press the button.
Durability: 8/10. I asked a store manager and she says that she rarely gets return. But she did mention that once in a while she will get one back with the can opener stuck to the can. But I was told that is extremely rare.
Cutting/open: 8/10. I can not complain when it cuts beneath the lid making it safer.
Cutting may be a little slow for others but I feel it is not something that will make me stop using it.
Bang for the buck: 8/10. My manual Kitchen Aid Can opener costs $15 and requires effort. For a few dollars more it is a great buy with no effort.
Overall: 8/10. Affordable, ease of use, opens can safely, durable, and just about hands-free.
