Beware of DVD player

Excellent sound (I upgraded their puny speaker cable), very happy with the receiver and remote. The DVD 5-disc changer began malfunctioning occasionally after about 6 months. It would sometimes misread disks ("Disk Error"), freeze temporarily requiring powering down, or the changer drawer would inadvertently open when advancing through the loaded disks. After several months of this, it one day suddenly stopped working at all, no disk would play and it would not open -trapping 5 disks (including a DVD rental!) inside for over a month while I battled with a sluggish Onkyo Service Center. After this month battle, their service center somehow decided it showed signs of abuse (even though it has sat in my entertainment center the entire time until now). Onkyo blamed it on me and refused to pay. I've owned Onkyo stereo products for 13 years, but my replacement DVD player WON'T BE AN ONKYO. Look at Amazon reviews, others have had similar experiences.
