Pros: 2 Components, 2 optical ports, multi-channel for SACDs, great sound, great remote.
Cons: None so far after a year.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended if getting into home theater. Even if you are into it all ready, for the price range this would be a step up. Onkyo makes quality products.

I knew I needed a lot of component outs for HDTV, DVD, PS2, the HDTV converter, etc, so you need a receiver that has at least 2 component outs. Also, you want some optical outs for digital sound, and other features that ensure this receiver won't become obsolete prematurely. It won't. This baby has all of the features I was told to look for. It has handled itself marvelously and because it handles the entire system (everything is routed thru it) you can't say enough about it. The remote can handle any device, even if it's not coded for a device you can program the keystrokes into the remote via IR communication. The remote will capture the signal from your other remote and mimic it. Very cool features as you don't need to lug around 4 remotes or some crappy universal one.
