The Only Hearts Club is a line of dolls and accessories developed by the OHC Group. This toy manufacturer focuses on “designing and developing products that are unique, attractive, interesting and fun to play with and also develops the content of its brands in order that they deliver a positive message to children.” (quoted from their webpage: http://www.onlyheartsclub.com/pages/company.html). Their dolls provide a refreshing alternative to the other popular doll lines (Barbie, Bratz, etc.). In contrast to Barbies and Bratz, the six Only Hearts Club dolls are soft, pose-able, dressed in fashionable clothes appropriate for preteens, and are designed to represent a more realistic body image for young girls.
In addition to the dolls, the OHC has developed some attractive accessories to enhance imaginative play. Because this is a fairly small and select line of products, you won’t find nearly the range of “stuff” that you can with Barbies. One of the accessories that we purchased early on in our collection was the Only Hearts Club Sleeping Bag.
Sweet Dreams with the Only Hearts Club Sleeping Bag
This cuddly, quilted sleeping bag comes in three different color choices: lavender, pink, and green. My daughter selected the lavender bag. This sleeping bag has soft, fleece exterior with large quilted hearts all over it. Inside is also lavender with pictures of stars, moon, and sun. It has a zipper that runs the length of one side of the bag and a nice zipper pull for ease of use.
This sleeping bag is 10 inches long (perfect to accommodate the 9 inch tall Only Hearts Club dolls) and 4 1/2 inches wide. In a pinch, it CAN be used with Barbies and will cover them up right past their rather protruding chest.
In addition to the bag itself, this product includes a matching pillow and a tiny white teddy bear in it’s own matching sleeping bag pouch.
Dr_Steph’s Recommendation
The soft texture and elegant simplicity of this sleeping bag make it especially appealing to both my daughter and myself. In shape and materials, it vaguely reminds me of a sunglasses case made for me by my sister. However, you would have to have one humongous pair of sunglasses to use this sleeping bag for that purpose!
Is there anything I don’t like about the Only Hearts Club Sleeping Bag? Well, I guess if I could redesign it, I would have the zipper go down one side AND across the bottom so it could be opened all the way up and used as a blanket. However, that’s minor and, more importantly, my daughter doesn’t think that change is necessary. She likes the sleeping bag just the way it is.
If you collect the Only Hearts Club dolls but are a bit strapped for cash when considering accessories, the Only Hearts Club Sleeping Bag is one of your best choices because it only costs $9.99.
